The Stanford Graduate School of Business Career Management Center (CMC) is an innovative, high-performing department that annually serves 850 MBA students, 85 MSx students, and more than 32,000 alumni. In addition to providing students with world-class career services, including workshops, 1:1 coaching, and online resources, we also develop strategic relationships with employers and alumni to support and facilitate our students’ career objectives. The CMC seeks an Associate Director, Alumni Career Programs. The mission of this new role within the CMC is to develop a strong and engaged community of alumni interested in supporting student career exploration and job searches. This person will create the program from scratch, develop an alumni recruitment and engagement strategy, deploy a technology platform to manage the program, coordinate related alumni efforts across the GSB, and build alumni communication streams, training, and rewards. The Associate Director will report into the Director, Alumni & MSx Career Services. It is a hybrid position with the expectation of working onsite between 3-5 days per week, and working the balance of time virtually as responsibilities permit. Duties unique to this role: Develop, launch, and manage programs to harness alumni energy and expertise for the benefit of students and alumni, particularly as it relates to their career exploration and job searches. Identify and deploy one or more technology platforms to manage all aspects of the programs, including recruitment of participants, data privacy management, matching or grouping of participants, communication, training, and evaluation of the program. Use a combination of technologies and platforms to optimize engagement and efficiency of all aspects of the program. Manage and optimize the program on an ongoing basis. Create content and communication with alumni to recruit, train, and build ongoing enthusiasm for working with the CMC, the GSB, and with students. Establish processes for receiving, handling and managing incoming requests from alumni who wish to give back and help students. Maintain and build on this process over time to encourage ongoing engagement and effectiveness of alumni work with students. Build and maintain a process for recognizing alumni who hire GSB interns and graduates. Establish a process to organize and track graduating students who have been involved with the CMC and may be interested in staying involved as alums over time. Recruit, train and maintain enthusiasm of this group every year, growing their involvement with the CMC and the GSB over time. Establish success metrics and provide ongoing analysis and reporting on the effectiveness of our alumni programs, with a mindset of continual improvement. Work in collaboration with staff from other departments who also work with alumni to ensure a streamlined, one-GSB approach to alumni relationship management. Represent the program or function within the department, unit or school. Represent the program or function at the university level and/or to external/internal stakeholders and constituencies. Core Duties : Lead the planning and operations for programs or functions that have significant business, regulatory and/or technical challenges requiring subject matter expertise. Evaluate programs or functions, policies and procedures. Identify issues, and develop alternative solutions which may include changes to programs, policies and procedures. Review and analyze trends to advise and develop recommendations to achieve or modify the goals of the program or function. Represent the program or function within the department, unit or school. Commit resources and provide information and/or training. Represent the program or function at the university level and/or to external/internal stakeholders and constituencies. Manage and contribute to the development of outreach strategy that may include relationship development, communications and compliance. May develop and/or oversee budgets; manage finances including monitoring, analyzing, forecasting, and reporting. Assess training needs and may develop associated training. May direct and/or supervise staff. Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, manage shifting priorities, and handle numerous time-sensitive projects with multiple deadlines. Ability to accomplish goals working through formal and informal channels, with diplomacy and tactfulness. Demonstrated creativity, problem solving, critical analysis, initiative, judgment and, decision-making skills. Demonstrated ability to develop and meet budget goals. Demonstrated solid planning and organizational skills. Demonstrated experience working independently and as part of a team. Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Strong relevant subject matter knowledge. Ability to direct the work of others, for jobs requiring supervision.
