Role Overview
A leading Irish construction consultancy is seeking an experienced Associate Director – Cost Management to join its growing Dublin team.
This is a senior position combining project delivery, client management, team leadership and business growth. The successful candidate will take responsibility for key client accounts and major projects while potentially managing and developing a team of approximately 3–4 Cost Management professionals.
The appointment comes at an exciting stage in the development of the business, with further office expansion planned and significant opportunities for the successful person to take on greater responsibility as the Cost Management team continues to grow.
For someone ambitious, there is a genuine opportunity to establish themselves as an important part of the senior leadership structure and continue progressing towards Director level.
Key Responsibilities
Cost & Commercial Management
- Lead Cost Management services across major client projects.
- Oversee cost planning, estimating, procurement and tendering.
- Manage budgets, forecasting and financial reporting.
- Provide strategic commercial advice throughout the project lifecycle.
- Oversee valuations, variations, change management and final accounts.
- Identify commercial risks and provide practical solutions to clients.
Team Leadership
- Manage a team of approximately 3–4 Cost Managers / Quantity Surveyors.
- Mentor and develop team members at different stages of their careers.
- Manage workload, project allocation and team performance.
- Support professional development and chartership.
- Help build the team further as the business expands.
Client Management
- Act as a senior point of contact for key clients.
- Develop and maintain strong long-term relationships.
- Lead client meetings, presentations and commercial discussions.
- Ensure consistently high standards of service and project delivery.
- Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships.
Business & Office Growth
- Work closely with the Directors on the continued growth of the Cost Management division.
- Play an active role in the planned expansion of the office and wider team.
- Support recruitment and development of new team members.
- Contribute to bids, proposals and new business opportunities.
- Help shape systems, structures and processes as the team grows.
- Take on increased leadership responsibility as the business expands.
Candidate Requirements
- Significant experience within Quantity Surveying / Cost Management.
- Currently operating at Associate, Associate Director, Senior Cost Manager or similar level.
- Strong consultancy / client-side experience preferred.
- Proven pre- and post-contract project experience.
- Strong client-facing and relationship-management skills.
- Experience managing, mentoring or developing other Cost Managers / Quantity Surveyors.
- Commercially minded with an interest in helping grow a team and business.
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
- MRICS / SCSI advantageous.
