Join Oregon State University’s Digital Engagement, Marketing, and Information Technology team to lead the people and delivery processes supporting undergraduate and graduate enrollment systems. The Associate Director manages a visible, prioritized portfolio, translates approved business needs into scoped work, coordinates testing and releases, and keeps partners informed about status, risks, ownership, and next steps.

Reporting to the Executive Director, this position supervises assigned application development staff and works with senior technical engineers and enrollment partners to deliver reliable, documented, supportable systems. The role connects Admissions, Graduate
Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid, Scholarships, Ecampus, OSU- Cascades, and University Information and Technology.

This position may be performed remotely or on campus in Corvallis, Oregon. Remote work arrangements are subject to university policy and the needs of the position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the enrollment systems portfolio, intake, priorities, schedules, dependencies, and stakeholder updates.
  • Supervise application development staff, coach performance, and plan workload and coverage.
  • Lead requirements discovery, business analysis, acceptance criteria, and cross-unit coordination.
  • Coordinate testing, stakeholder sign-off, releases, production validation, and incident follow-up.
  • Maintain documentation, appropriate access, backup coverage, and continuity practices.
  • Advise the Executive Director on portfolio progress, staffing, risks, and service improvements.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business information systems, computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • Three years progressively responsible experience managing delivery of information systems or application development work, including requirements, priorities, schedules, testing, and stakeholder communication.
  • Experience supervising employees or formally leading staff work, including setting expectations, reviewing progress, and addressing performance.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into actionable technical work and to coordinate effectively with engineers, operational partners, and leaders.
  • Strong written and oral communication, judgment, organization, documentation, and customer service skills; ability to identify, resolve, or escalate delivery and operational risks.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive excellence and effective service for diverse student and staff populations.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Technolutions Slate and enrollment systems, including applications, communications, forms, queries, workflows, or integrations.
  • Experience with Ellucian Banner, Common App, student data flows, curriculum or program updates, or other higher education systems.
  • Experience managing Jira or comparable service and project workflows; developing release, quality assurance, documentation, and continuity practices.
  • Experience supporting both undergraduate and graduate enrollment operations and coordinating work across multiple university units.
  • Ability to understand technical design, SQL or data mapping well enough to assess dependencies and risks, without being the sole senior engineer for the portfolio.

Working Conditions/Schedule:

This is a full time position with regular business hours and occasional work outside those hours for critical incidents, enrollment deadlines, or planned releases. Work location and any flexible arrangement are subject to university policy and the needs of the position. The role directly supervises assigned application development staff; specific positions and reporting relationships will be confirmed in the approved organizational structure. It partners with senior technical engineers on priorities and delivery while respecting their delegated technical authority.

The position is expected to meet applicable university requirements for positions designated critical or security sensitive.
