Job Description Apply now Req Id: 43980 Job Title: Associate, Identity Security Analyst City: REMOTE Job Description: Job Summary Purdue IT | Remote The Associate Identity Engineer is an entry level professional contributor working under immediate supervision who plays a key operational and technical role in supporting and assisting in the design, development, testing, maintenance, and implementation of Purdue University’s enterprise Identity and Access Management (IAM) software infrastructure. Working within Purdue IT, this role focuses on standardizing user lifecycle processes—including account provisioning, deprovisioning, role-based access control (RBAC), and directory integrations—across university platforms. This position assists with day-to-day identity operations, directory services maintenance, and initial troubleshooting of authentication, single sign-on (SSO), and access protocol issues. The Associate Engineer collaborates closely with senior IAM engineers, system administrators, and security teams to support and assist with ongoing domain integrations, access management transitions and design, and directory governance to ensure secure, seamless access for students, faculty, and staff. What We're Looking For Education and Experience Required: Bachelor’s degree required: Computer Technology, Computer Science, Computer Programming or related IT field preferred In lieu of degree, consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required experience (associate’s degree + 4 years of experience; HS/HSE + 6 years of experience) One (1) year software design and development experience with emphasis on user-oriented software development involving software engineering skills for middleware software applications Programming experience using Java/other languages, using scripting languages such as Python or Perl, with databases or web applications Experience with operating in Unix/Linux environments Preferred: Experience developing applications, identity management programming, and authentication technologies such as LDAP, SAML, Radius, and MFA Experience with SQL/Oracle, web development including Java Spring Framework, JavaScript, PHP, CSS, HTML, or XML Experience working with identity and access management and other security-related applications Skills Required: Demonstrated skills in software architecture design, object-oriented design and development, automated build systems, regression testing techniques, and other standard identity engineering practices Knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures of common software development methodologies Ability to: diagnose complex problems and design and develop solutions multi-task on a variety of identity engineering activities and work effectively in a deadline-driven environment Exceptional conceptual and analytical problem-solving abilities Excellent oral, written and computer communication skills with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills Preferred: Specialized skills such as middleware programming, database design/redesign, performance tuning, client-server and object-oriented programming Knowledge of scripting languages and web application programming Additional Information: Purdue University will not sponsor employment authorization for this position A background check will be required for employment in this position FLSA: Exempt (Not Eligible for Overtime) Retirement Eligibility: Defined Contribution Waiting Period Benefit Statement: Purdue University offers a substantial Benefit Package including medical, dental, and vision insurance as well as a generous paid time off package for sick and vacation days - Summary of Benefits for Professional levels 1-3, Management levels 1-2 - Human Resources - Purdue University .
