Who are we?
At Finastra, we’re a global leader in financial services software, dedicated to expanding access to financial services and shaping what’s next for the industry. Our technology powers mission‑critical solutions across Lending, Payments and Universal Banking, supporting over 7,000 customers, including 80% of the world’s top 50 banks, in more than 110 countries.
About the Role:
We are looking for a Technical QA Engineer to help elevate the quality of platform and DevOps deliverables. This role focuses on validating technical, operational, and business-related capabilities delivered by platform engineering teams, ensuring that enhancements meet functional, operational, and customer usage expectations before they are released. The successful candidate will work closely with DevOps engineers, product owners, architects, developers, and stakeholders to define and execute meaningful test coverage. This is not limited to basic deployment verification; the role is intended to validate the actual behaviour, usability, integration, and readiness of DevOps deliverables across realistic product and customer scenarios.
The role is primarily manual QA. Exposure to scripting or automation is considered an advantage, with the potential to support future test coverage improvements where relevant.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan, design, and execute manual test scenarios for DevOps and platform deliverables, including both technical and business-oriented functionality.
• Validate application and platform behaviour across containerized environments and, where relevant, virtual machine-based environments.
• Perform end-to-end validation of Kubernetes-based deployments, Helm chart behaviour, configuration changes, upgrades, rollbacks, and release readiness activities.
• Test platform services and integrations involving Kafka, MQ, Elasticsearch, databases, APIs, logging, monitoring, and operational tooling.
• Validate deployment, scaling, resiliency, backup, recovery, failover, and day-2 operational workflows where applicable.
• Verify that platform deliverables support expected business/application flows, not only that the deployment technically completes.
• Review requirements, design notes, Jira items, and technical documentation to identify test impact, gaps, risks, and required clarifications.
• Create and maintain test cases, test evidence, defect documentation, and release-quality summaries.
• Investigate issues using logs, system behaviour, configuration, monitoring dashboards, and collaboration with DevOps and development teams. Technical QA Engineer – DevOps & Platform Quality | Job Description Technical QA Engineer – DevOps & Platform Quality | Job Description
• Participate in defect triage, root-cause analysis, regression validation, and production-readiness discussions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of QA practices for DevOps deliverables, including better test coverage, earlier validation, and clearer acceptance criteria. Required Experience and Skills
• Experience in quality assurance, system testing, technical validation, or platform/application testing roles.
• Strong manual QA capabilities, including test analysis, test design, execution, evidence collection, and defect reporting.
• Ability to understand technical requirements and translate them into practical test scenarios.
• Hands-on experience with API testing.
• Good understanding of backend systems, distributed applications, APIs, and microservices-based solutions
• Hands-on experience working with Linux environments and analyzing logs or system-level behaviour.
• Familiarity with containerized environments, preferably Kubernetes or OpenShift.
• Familiarity with messaging or event-streaming technologies such as Kafka, IBM MQ, RabbitMQ, or similar.
• Exposure to search or indexing technologies such as Elasticsearch or OpenSearch.
• Experience validating integrations across applications, middleware, infrastructure, and platform services.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex workflows and collaborate effectively with DevOps, development, architecture, and product stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Background in fintech, banking, payments, or other regulated enterprise software environments.

• Knowledge of monitoring and observability practices using tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Open Telemetry, or similar.
• Basic scripting experience using Python, Bash, JavaScript, or similar languages.
• Exposure to API testing tools, automated testing concepts, or test automation frameworks.
• Experience working in a DevOps, SRE, platform engineering, or infrastructure-focused organization.
• Hands-on experience in security validation, including authentication, authorization, and secrets/configuration management verification. Expected Candidate Profile
• Technically curious QA professional who can go beyond UI or basic happy-path testing.
• Comfortable working in complex, distributed, and containerized environments.
• Able to challenge unclear requirements and identify missing acceptance criteria
• Strong collaborator who can work with DevOps engineers while maintaining an independent quality mindset.
• Practical, hands-on, and capable of connecting technical platform behaviour to real product and customer impact. Role Success Measures
• Improved quality and completeness of DevOps deliverables before handover or release.
• Better validation of enhanced platform and business functionality, not only deployment success.
• Earlier identification of defects, configuration gaps, integration issues, and operational risks.
• Clearer test evidence and stronger release-readiness visibility for stakeholders.
• Gradual improvement of repeatable QA practices for platform and DevOps workstreams.
