Purpose:
The Patient Engagement Content Hub creates the content that helps patients find, understand, and stay engaged with clinical trials across their journey. The work we produce shapes whether a patient enrolls, whether their caregiver feels included, whether someone living in a rural community ever hears about the trial that could change their life. Our content is the bridge between Lilly’s clinical science and the people it is designed to serve — right content, right patient, right channel, right time.
The Content Hub operates at the intersection of three forms of expertise: deep understanding of the patient and their journey (their fears, barriers, hopes, motivations, and where they are in their readiness to engage); scientific and clinical credibility (drug development context, protocol comprehension, and therapeutic area knowledge); and content craft (writing that informs, engages, and resonates across the channels patients actually use). Before we create anything, we understand everything — and only then do we build. AI and digital tools accelerate our drafts and workflows; creative judgement and final decisions stay with our team.
The purpose of the Content Hub Content Creator role is to craft patient-facing content that transforms understanding, accelerates enrolment, and drives lasting engagement across the clinical trial journey. The Content Creator translates patient insight, clinical evidence, audience strategy, and creative direction into omnichannel content experiences that help patients discover, understand, and engage with clinical trials. Working as part of an integrated team alongside Visual Communicators, Creative Strategy Leads, Content Planners, study teams, and digital colleagues, the Content Creator translates patient insight, clinical evidence, and creative strategy into content that meets every patient where they are — in their communities, in their feeds, at their point of care.
Primary Responsibilities:
This job description is intended to provide a general overview of the job requirements at the time it was prepared. The job requirements of any position may change over time and may include additional responsibilities not specifically described in the job description. Consult with your supervision regarding your actual job responsibilities and any related duties that may be required for the position.
1. Brief Intake & Audience Alignment
The Content Hub Content Creator will:
- Ground every brief in real patient experience — reading patient dossiers, audience segmentation, and CoDesign outputs in full, not just distilled summaries, before drafting begins.
- Align with strategists, study teams, and Visual Communicators on patient segment, readiness stage, tone of voice, health literacy level, channel mix, and cultural context.
- Translate the indication-level narrative and creative strategy into a clear content direction across the required asset suite, in clear, human, trustworthy language for the target audience.
- Bring together the three streams of evidence that anchor every Content Hub asset — patient insight (who they are), clinical and protocol data (what they face), and behavioural / market insight (where they are) — so the content responds to all three.
- Apply drug development, protocol, and therapeutic area knowledge so that every brief is interpreted with scientific and clinical credibility from the outset.
- Confirm format requirements, accessibility needs, and localisation scope with stakeholders so that production can flow without rework.
2. Draft, Adapt & Produce
The Content Hub Content Creator will:
- Adapt core messages across channels and formats while maintaining consistency of intent, ensuring content reflects both channel best practices and audience needs across the patient journey.
- Write patient-facing content that transforms understanding, builds trust, and motivates action — across web, email, social, print, video scripts, infographics, and interactive formats.
- Craft content that meets patients where they are, emotionally and practically — empathetic, plain-language, accessible, and culturally appropriate to the audience and the moment in their journey.
- Use AI tools and digital platforms to accelerate drafts and workflows — applying creative judgement and editorial control over every output, so the final word always belongs to the team, not the tool.
- Write for visual storytelling — produce copy that pairs naturally with design, motion, and infographic formats, partnering closely with Visual Communicators throughout production.
- Adapt content for SEO and discoverability, content localisation, and digital accessibility (WCAG / LCS-011) requirements as part of standard production.
- Maintain consistent tone of voice, messaging hierarchy, and brand standards across every output, in line with the Lilly Brand Book, Global Health Literacy Toolkit, and Content Hub creative guardrails.
Review, MLR (Medical , Legal & Regulatory) Prep & Finalization
The Content Hub Content Creator will:
- Prepare MLR-ready submissions across the full omnichannel asset suite, ensuring all elements meet regulatory, health literacy, accessibility, and brand standards.
- Apply AI-enabled pre-checks (e.g., PECRA, the Health Literacy Readability Agent) to surface issues early, then bring human editorial judgement to final content quality, clarity, and patient experience.
- Protect the patient’s experience of the final asset — integrating reviewer feedback efficiently while preserving tone, clarity, and emotional resonance; influence and negotiate revisions with cross-functional partners where appropriate.
- Contribute to a measured, governed process — flagging insights that should feed back into KPIs, persona refinement, template improvement, or future creative briefs.
- Adhere to compliance standards leveraging the Lilly Brand Book, Global Health Literacy Toolkit, applicable LCS standards (including LCS-011 for digital accessibility), and Content Hub governance.
- Ensure final assets are correctly versioned, tagged, and prepared for omnichannel distribution via Content Hub workflows and integrated systems (e.g., DockTrack, Helix, AEM).
3. Stakeholder Partnership & Knowledge Building
The Content Hub Content Creator will:
- Operate as part of one integrated team with Visual Communicators, Creative Strategy Leads, Content Planners, study teams, digital colleagues, and analytics partners — not as sequential hand-offs.
- Serve as a Content Hub point of contact for therapeutic area teams on patient-facing content creation, offering best practices and creative input.
- Maintain and grow deep knowledge of the patient journey, therapeutic area, and clinical trial context across the portfolio; build content craft and digital channel skills alongside.
- Share best practice in patient-facing writing, omnichannel content design, and patient-led ways of working with peers and the wider organisation.
- Build and apply content knowledge across therapeutic areas, formats, and channels; mentor peers and contribute to capability building across the Content Hub.
- Network across functions, sites, and external communities of practice to bring fresh insight and best practice into the team.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of Content Hub workflows, agentic solutions, and operating model, and support change management as new capabilities are introduced.
- Use available performance data, audience insights, search trends, engagement metrics, and stakeholder feedback to refine content approaches and improve effectiveness over time.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in any field AND:
- Demonstrated versatility in omnichannel content strategy and/or execution across communication channels, with examples of content adapted for different audiences, platforms, and customer journeys.
- Minimum of three years' professional experience developing audience-facing content across multiple channels, including digital, social, web, email, print, or related customer engagement platforms. Demonstrated experience creating content designed to inform, engage, or influence target audiences is required. Experience applying content strategy, marketing frameworks, audience insights, and customer journey principles to drive engagement and content effectiveness is preferred.
A marketing exercise is required as part of the candidate evaluation process
Other Information/Additional Preferences:
· Advanced degree (Master’s, MBA, or equivalent) in communications, marketing, health communications, journalism, behavioural science, or a sciences/health-related field.
· Demonstrated mastery of written English in patient-facing, marketing, brand, editorial, or health communications contexts.
· Demonstrated experience creating patient-facing content across multiple channels (web, email, social, video, infographic, interactive, print) — content designed to inform, reassure, and motivate action.
· Strong grounding in patient experience research, behavioural insight, and the use of patient personas, dossiers, and journey mapping to shape content.
· Working knowledge of CMS / AEM platforms, SEO and content discoverability, and digital asset management.
· Familiarity with AI and automation tools used to accelerate content workflows, with confident editorial judgement over their outputs.
· Strong grounding in health literacy and plain language principles; experience applying digital accessibility standards (WCAG / LCS-011) and content localisation practices.
· Familiarity with MLR / promotional review processes in a regulated pharmaceutical environment, and the use of AI-enabled pre-check tools to accelerate review.
· Drug development, clinical trial, and therapeutic area knowledge sufficient to ensure content is clinically credible, protocol-aligned, and scientifically accurate from first draft.
· Experience writing for video, motion, podcast, and interactive content formats, including emotive, narrative, and short-form social copy.
· Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly across audiences and forums, with strong stakeholder management, project management, and time management skills across concurrent multi-channel deliverables.
