Azure FinOps Consultant

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a Mid FinOps Consultant and Azure Architect to support a cloud and technology services environment, focused on Azure cost analysis, architecture optimization and measurable financial impact. This role combines technical architecture, FinOps practices, governance and stakeholder advisory, with a hybrid work model based in Lisbon.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Analyze Azure environments across compute, storage, networking, PaaS, databases and AKS to identify cost drivers and optimization opportunities.

- Design and document optimized Azure architectures, including estimated savings, implementation effort and associated risk.

- Recommend cost optimization actions such as rightsizing, autoscaling, storage tiering, orphaned resource removal, IaaS to PaaS migration and resource consolidation.

- Define commitment strategies using Reservations, Savings Plans and Azure Hybrid Benefit.

- Support cost allocation models through tagging, subscription structure, management groups, showback and chargeback approaches.

- Produce dashboards, cost reports, budgets, alerts and forecasts to support service reporting and decision-making.

- Propose cost governance guardrails using Azure Policy.

- Present findings and recommendations in service follow-up sessions with technical and management stakeholders.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

- 3 to 5 years of experience in Azure, including solution design and architecture responsibilities.

- Practical experience in cloud cost optimization or FinOps activities.

- Ability to conduct analysis autonomously from assessment to recommendation.

- Analytical mindset, connecting architecture decisions with financial impact.

- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills for technical teams and management stakeholders.

- Fluency in Portuguese and professional working proficiency in English for technical documentation and interaction with technology providers.

- Rigor, organization, accountability and availability for hybrid work in Lisbon and occasional client-facing presence when required.

- Microsoft Azure architecture and solution design.

- Azure Cost Management + Billing.

- Azure Advisor.

- Azure Pricing Calculator.

- Azure licensing and billing models, including EA, MCA and CSP.

- Reservations, Savings Plans and Azure Hybrid Benefit.

- Azure Well-Architected Framework, especially Cost Optimization.

- Azure Policy for cost governance.

- Cost allocation models, tagging strategies, subscriptions and management groups.

- Showback and chargeback models.

- Advanced Excel.

- Power BI and/or KQL for cloud cost data analysis.

- Terraform or Bicep for Infrastructure as Code.

- Flexera One Cloud Cost Optimization.

- AZ-305 Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification.

- AZ-104 Microsoft Azure Administrator certification.
