Vipani AI (VAI) - an AI-powered workplace intelligence platform that surfaces behavioural signals, identifies workplace risks early, and translates them into the financial and performance language leadership teams act on.

Our platforms serve organisations across the UK, Europe and the GCC, in healthcare, insurance, financial services, retail, technology and professional services.

How we build

We are an AI-augmented engineering team. Claude Code is part of our daily workflow - we write specs, direct agents, and review their output critically before it ships. You'll work this way from day one: less time typing boilerplate, more time on architecture, data design and product judgement. If AI-assisted development isn't already part of how you work - or something you're genuinely hungry to master - this won't be the right role.

The role

You'll build and own backend services across both platforms:

• Develop and maintain services in our Laravel (PHP) core platform and Python/FastAPI AI services.
• Design and optimise MySQL schemas, queries and indexing for analytics-heavy workloads.
• Build and version RESTful APIs consumed by our web frontend and mobile apps.
• Integrate AI pipeline outputs - scoring, insights, agent responses - into product-facing APIs.
• Use Claude Code daily: execute specs, generate and refactor code, and critically review agent output.
• Debug across the stack, participate in code reviews, and keep documentation current.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong Python; hands-on experience with PHP and Laravel.
• Strong MySQL: schema design, optimisation, indexing, performance tuning.
• Daily working use of AI coding tools (Claude Code preferred; Cursor or Copilot acceptable) - you can direct an agent from a clear spec and spot when its output is wrong.
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs.
• Git and modern development workflow fluency.
• Professional working English.

Nice to have

• FastAPI or async Python services.
• AWS, including SageMaker or deployment pipelines.
• SaaS, analytics or reporting products.
• HR tech or people-analytics exposure.

Compensation

€2,000 - €2,500/month depending on experience and assessment performance.

Assessment

Our technical assessment mirrors the job: you'll receive a spec and access to AI tooling. We evaluate how you direct the work, the decisions you make, and what you catch in the output - not how fast you type.
