Operating in the market since 2009, the Insparya Group has a Technological and Biomedical Research Center, covering everything from stem cell research to robotics.
Insparya’s mission is to transform lives by offering innovative and personalized solutions in the field of hair health, promoting confidence, self-esteem, and well-being.
Mission
Insparya is looking for a Backend Engineer to build and maintain the services, APIs and integrations that connect our clinical, commercial and patient-facing systems across Portugal, Spain, Italy, Saudi Arabia and Oman. You'll build reliable, well-tested and well-documented services, own them from implementation to production, and work with external system vendors on integrations. This is a fully remote position within Portugal, with occasional in-person team days during the year.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain backend services and APIs in Node.js and TypeScript.
- Develop and maintain integrations with external systems, including webhooks and third-party APIs.
- Build event-driven services on AWS.
- Implement features in our core data layer, including identity resolution and reconciliation across source systems.
- Write automated tests and take part in code reviews.
- Implement monitoring, logging and alerting for the services you build.
- Support production services as part of a shared team rotation.
- Apply access control and data protection practices when handling patient data.
- Work with external system vendors on technical integration requirements.
- Document services, data flows and operational procedures.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional experience building backend services with Node.js and TypeScript in production environments.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, SQS or SNS.
- Experience with a relational database, preferably PostgreSQL, including schema design and migrations.
- Experience integrating third-party APIs or webhooks, including handling retries, failures and duplicate messages.
- Good understanding of API security fundamentals: authentication, request signing and validation of untrusted input.
- Experience writing automated tests (unit and integration).
- Effective use of AI-assisted development tools, with the ability to review and take responsibility for the code they produce.
- Fluency in Portuguese and English.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with infrastructure as code (CDK, Terraform or equivalent).
- Experience with event-driven patterns such as queues, idempotent consumers and dead-letter queues.
- Background in healthcare or another regulated environment with GDPR obligations.
- Familiarity with HubSpot.
- Clear communication, including with non-technical stakeholders and external vendors.
- Curiosity and willingness to learn, and the ability to take ownership of well-defined problems.
Why you should join Insparya
- Join an international group with a strong focus on innovation, technology, and healthcare excellence.
- Work on large-scale platforms and systems that directly support patient care and business operations across multiple countries.
- Be part of a collaborative and highly skilled technology team with opportunities for professional growth and career development.
- Contribute to building innovative digital solutions that positively impact the lives and well-being of our patients.
- Enjoy a dynamic, multicultural, and purpose-driven work environment.
We look forward to discovering your talent!
