Backend Infrastructure Engineer (Anti-Bot)

About the Role

This is an adversarial web-extraction infrastructure role on a small, high-output team building the data layer that AI companies depend on. You will own the systems that keep high-volume web extraction working against sites that actively fight back, including proxy infrastructure, fingerprint management, and challenge-solving. When extraction "just works" on a hardened target, that's this team's work.

What You'll Do

• Architect and manage proxy rotation, IP and session management, and egress-node isolation at scale.

• Beat anti-bot and anti-scraping defenses, keeping success rates high against sites that constantly update their protections.

• Build and maintain browser and TLS fingerprint management alongside CAPTCHA and challenge-solving infrastructure.

• Own the health, cost efficiency, and economics of the proxy layer end-to-end.

• Debug hard, intermittent adversarial failures across the stack and make fixes stick.

What We're Looking For

• 0 to 3 years of backend infrastructure or distributed systems experience, with hands-on production ownership including on-call responsibilities.

• Demonstrated experience architecting proxy rotation, IP and session management, and egress-node isolation for third-party web extraction in production.

• Proven ability to bypass and evade aggressive anti-bot and anti-scraping defenses at production scale.

• Experience with browser and TLS fingerprint management and CAPTCHA or challenge-solving at scale.

• Proficiency in Go and/or Python, plus TypeScript or Node.js in production services.

• Strong networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, HTTP/2, connection pooling, and proxy orchestration.

• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, and Terraform, as well as CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions).

• Familiarity with PostgreSQL, Redis, and Kafka in production environments.

• Monitoring and observability experience with Prometheus and Grafana.

• Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $235,000 to $260,000 USD annually. Equity included. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Location

Hybrid arrangement based in San Francisco, CA. Candidates must be located in the San Francisco Bay Area or willing to relocate.
