Job Introduction

As a Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist, you will join our supportive community team based at Gravesham Community Hospital in Gravesend . This is an exciting opportunity to take on a leadership role within a forward thinking service, helping to shape and develop Speech and Language Therapy provision across North Kent. You will work as a joint Team Lead alongside an experienced full time Band 7, providing clinical leadership while continuing to deliver high quality care to patients within the community. This is a varied and rewarding role where you will support patients with communication and swallowing difficulties to achieve greater independence and quality of life. You will be joining a friendly, collaborative and innovative Speech and Language Therapy team who are passionate about delivering person centered care . Main Responsibilities

In this role, you will provide leadership and clinical expertise to the community Speech and Language Therapy team across North Kent. You will support the day to day coordination of the service, working closely with your co Team Lead to ensure safe, effective and responsive care delivery. Alongside your leadership responsibilities, you will manage a specialist clinical caseload, delivering assessment, diagnosis and evidence based interventions for adults with communication and swallowing disorders. You will have the opportunity to further develop your clinical interests and contribute to service improvement initiatives. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, supporting integrated care and ensuring patients receive the right support at the right time . The service covers a diverse caseload including neurological conditions, head and neck cancer, voice and dysfluency, offering a high level of clinical variety. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and supporting the day to day delivery of the Speech and Language Therapy service
  • Providing specialist assessment, diagnosis and intervention for patients with communication and swallowing needs
  • Supporting and developing junior colleagues and students
  • Contributing to service development, quality improvement and innovation
  • Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across community services
  • Maintaining accurate clinical records and adhering to professional standards

Person Specification

Essential

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council
  • Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
  • Significant post graduate experience working with adults with communication and swallowing disorders
  • Experience using a wide range of assessments and therapeutic interventions
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
  • Confidence using IT systems, including Microsoft Office

Desirable

  • Experience in a Band 6 or Band 7 role within a community setting
  • Experience supporting service development or quality improvement initiatives
  • Interest in developing specialist clinical areas
