About this Role The Relationship Banker serves as a key member of a transformed hybrid branch team, balancing both operational and sales responsibilities while delivering an exceptional client experience. This position supports daily teller transactions, account servicing, account opening activities, and relationship-building efforts that contribute to branch growth. The Relationship Banker assists new and existing clients with routine banking transactions, account maintenance, digital banking support, and financial solutions. Through everyday interactions, this role identifies opportunities to deepen relationships, refer clients to specialized banking partners, and contribute to branch sales and service goals. This position requires strong operational accuracy, customer service skills, and attention to detail, as well as the ability to balance branch operations with relationship banking responsibilities, including transaction processing, account opening, client service, relationship development, and sales/referral activities. Client Service, Relationship Building and Sales Support Deliver exceptional service to clients through teller transactions, account servicing, and relationship-building activities. Conduct meaningful conversations to identify client needs and recommend appropriate banking products and services. Build and strengthen client relationships through proactive engagement and follow-up. Support branch sales goals through referrals, lead generation, appointment setting, and client outreach. Identify opportunities to deepen client relationships and expand product usage. Refer clients to internal partners including mortgage, consumer lending, business banking, investments, and insurance. Participate in branch sales campaigns, community outreach efforts, and client engagement initiatives. Support branch growth through consistent execution of sales and service activities. Banking Products and Financial Solutions Assist clients with opening, maintaining, and servicing deposit accounts. Introduce and recommend banking products and services that align with client financial needs and goals. Promote consumer deposit products including checking accounts, savings accounts, money market accounts, certificates of deposit, debit cards, and other retail banking services. Identify opportunities for mortgage, investment, insurance, and small business referrals. Use consultative conversations to uncover financial needs and connect clients with appropriate solutions. Support cross-selling and relationship-deepening efforts during routine client interactions. Educate clients on digital banking tools, online banking, mobile banking, debit card services, and self-service solutions. Maintain knowledge of retail banking products, promotions, services, and basic lending solutions. Branch Operations and Transaction Processing Accurately process deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, transfers, official checks, and other financial transactions. Balance cash drawers and maintain cash limits in accordance with bank policies and procedures. Assist with daily branch opening, closing, and operational activities. Maintain operational controls that promote security, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance. Identify potentially fraudulent transactions and escalate concerns as appropriate. Support branch audits, operational reviews, and compliance requirements. Assist clients with account maintenance requests and routine servicing needs. Ensure operational accuracy while maintaining a positive client experience. Support branch efficiency by assisting with teller line coverage and operational tasks as needed. Client Experience and Service Deliver a positive and professional client experience during every interaction. Respond to client questions, account needs, and service requests in a timely manner. Resolve routine client concerns and escalate complex issues appropriately. Provide guidance on account options, digital tools, and banking services. Follow up with clients to ensure satisfaction and identify additional opportunities to assist. Demonstrate a commitment to relationship-based service and client retention. Risk Management and Compliance Follow all bank policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and risk management expectations. Complete account opening and maintenance activities in accordance with compliance requirements. Maintain accurate documentation for transactions, account openings, referrals, and service activities. Protect client information and confidential data. Adhere to Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, OFAC, and other applicable banking regulations. Support branch compliance and operational risk management objectives. Other Duties Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of one year of customer service, teller, retail banking, sales, financial services, or related customer-facing experience. Experience handling cash and processing financial transactions accurately. Ability to build client relationships and identify financial needs. Ability to balance operational responsibilities with sales and referral expectations. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated customer service and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work accurately with client information, account documentation, and banking systems. Ability to obtain and maintain NMLS registration after hire. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience as a Banking Specialist, Universal Banker, Teller, Personal Banker, Relationship Banker, Branch Banker, Financial Services Representative, Consumer Banker, or similar banking position. Previous cash-handling and teller operations experience. Experience opening deposit accounts and servicing retail banking clients. Demonstrated success generating referrals or supporting branch sales goals. Working knowledge of consumer banking products, lending products, and digital banking solutions. Strong attention to detail and operational accuracy. Good analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Compensation Disclosure The range for this role takes into account many factors that First Bank considers when making hiring decisions, including but not limited to prior experience, skill set, training, and other internal business and organizational factors. First Bank generally does not hire at or near the top of the stated range. The range is driven by the geographic location of the anticipated hiring location; however, the specific range may vary depending on the geographic location for remote positions. Compensation decisions depend on the specific facts and circumstances of each hiring instance. A reasonable estimate of the current pay range is $27.50 - $33.75 hourly.
