Candidates must be willing and ready to relocate to Dallas/Austin if not local. 🔹 Position Overview We’re looking for a Mainframe Lead / Automation Engineer with strong production-grade automation experience, excellent Python skills, and hands-on expertise with GitHub and GitHub Actions. The ideal candidate is someone who can transform manual operational processes into reliable, maintainable, auditable automation workflows and is comfortable working across modern engineering tools and mainframe-integrated environments. 🔹 Required Skills Candidates should have strong experience in the following areas: 5+ years of software development/automation engineering experience. Proven experience building production-grade automation, not just scripts. Strong Python development skills, including modular code, testing, logging, error handling, and maintainability. Strong GitHub expertise, including branching strategies, pull requests, code reviews, and CI/CD practices. Hands-on experience creating and supporting GitHub Actions workflows for validation, testing, deployment, and promotion. Real-world experience using GitHub Copilot and VS Code for coding, refactoring, troubleshooting, and productivity. Strong automation architecture mindset with the ability to convert manual processes into automated and auditable workflows. Ability to quickly learn and work with Control-M. Prior Control-M experience is preferred, but strong automation engineers with scheduling experience will be considered. 🔹 Preferred / Differentiating Skills Control-M, particularly Jobs-as-Code. Infrastructure as Code (IaC). JSON-based configuration and pipeline development. Linux and Windows platform experience. Exposure to mainframe-integrated environments.
