The SPARK Child and Family Wellbeing Program is a Primary Health Network (PHN) funded initiative providing early intervention mental health and wellbeing support to children aged 5-11 years and their families in Canterbury.
The program delivers child-centred and family-focused support that promotes positive mental health, strengthens family relationships, builds parenting capacity and improves outcomes for children experiencing vulnerability or emerging wellbeing concerns.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the program provides coordinated and accessible support through community-based, home-based, school-based and office-based service delivery.
About The Role
As the Behavioural Support Practitioner - Child and Family Wellbeing, you will provide evidence-informed behavioural support services to children aged 5-11 years and their families. You will work collaboratively with children, parents, carers, schools and community stakeholders to understand behavioural challenges, identify strengths, and implement effective strategies that support positive behavioural, social and emotional outcomes.
Using a strengths-based, trauma-informed and family-centred approach, you will provide assessment, intervention, coaching and psychoeducation to help children build emotional regulation, resilience and social skills, while supporting families to strengthen parenting confidence and capability.
Services will be delivered from the Lakemba Family Support Hub, Bankstown Family Relationship Centre, and within school and community settings where appropriate.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver evidence-informed behavioural support services to children aged 5-11 years and their families.
- Conduct behavioural assessments to identify factors contributing to behavioural, social, emotional and developmental challenges.
- Develop, implement, monitor and review individualised behavioural support plans and intervention strategies.
- Support children to develop positive social skills, emotional regulation, resilience, self-confidence and age-appropriate behavioural strategies.
- Work collaboratively with parents, carers and families to strengthen parenting capacity and support positive child behaviour and wellbeing.
- Provide practical coaching, psychoeducation and behavioural support strategies to families and carers.
- Work collaboratively with schools, educators and community stakeholders to promote consistency of behavioural support approaches across settings.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, collaborative care planning and coordinated service delivery.
- Monitor progress against agreed goals and evaluate intervention outcomes.
- Maintain accurate case notes, assessment records, outcome data and reporting requirements in accordance with organisational and professional standards.
- Deliver services in accordance with the SPARK Model of Care, organisational policies and relevant legislative requirements.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Counselling, Behavioural Science, Human Services or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience working with children aged 5-11 years and their families.
- Experience conducting behavioural assessments and implementing behavioural intervention strategies.
- Strong understanding of child development, attachment theory, trauma-informed practice and family-centred approaches.
- Experience supporting children experiencing behavioural, emotional, social and developmental challenges.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and build effective relationships with children, families and carers.
- Strong communication, collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience working collaboratively with schools, community services and multidisciplinary teams.
- Well-developed assessment, documentation and report writing skills.
- Current NSW Driver Licence.
- Current Working with Children Check.
