Hajoca Corporation is one of the country’s largest privately-held wholesale distributors of plumbing, heating & cooling, and industrial supplies. Founded in 1858, Hajoca is a company based on the principles of “Service, Integrity, Reliability,” and on relationships of trust and support with teammates, customers, and suppliers. Throughout its history, Hajoca has played an active role in shaping advances in plumbing. However, we attribute our success to two simple truths; a unique business philosophy and talented people. Hajoca is all about the people, who give us our advantage, and who will guide us successfully into the future.

Hajoca has over 400 locations nationwide, called Profit Centers; and at the foundation of our family of businesses is a National Support Center (NSC) where Centers of Excellence are dedicated to enabling the success of our Profit Centers.

The Data Management team in our National Support Center (NSC) is looking for a BI Developer. This is a remote position. Applicants may be based anywhere within the United States.

Are you skilled at building semantic models and translating complex data into reports people trust? Do you know how to manage permissions and access across a growing library of dashboards? Are you detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and comfortable owning a build from data model through finished report? If so, then we’d like you to join our dedicated team as a BI Developer.

About the Role:

As a BI Developer, you will own the end-to-end business intelligence lifecycle, optimizing how data moves from our Microsoft Fabric environment into high-performing Power BI semantic models and dashboards. You will work closely with Analysts to establish a "single source of truth," manage workspace governance, and ensure data security across the organization.

You will:

  • Build and maintain scalable semantic models, calculated tables, and transformations on top of our Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Lakehouses, and Warehouses), based on specifications from our team of Analysts.

  • Design complex data models involving multiple sources, advanced relationships, and non-standard calculation logic.
  • Build advanced DAX measures, calculated columns, and complex calculation logic for high-priority or high-complexity reports.

  • Build standard and moderate-complexity reports and dashboards from approved specs, applying our established visual and formatting standards.
  • Optimize model performance, including query speed, refresh times dataset size, and leveraging Fabric’s Direct Lake mode where applicable.

  • Update existing models as source data or business rules change, coordinating with our IT Engineering team when upstream Fabric pipeline or delta table schema changes are involved.
  • Define and maintain row-level security (RLS) and object-level security (OLS) across semantic models and datasets.

  • Manage workspace-level access provisioning, capacities, and permissions in the Fabric / Power BI service.
  • Enforce naming conventions, visual layout standards, and folder/workspace structure standards.

  • Maintain semantic models under version control utilizing Fabric Git integration and a dev-to-test-to-production promotion process.
  • Handle report refresh issues, manage semantic model health, and perform routine production troubleshooting.

  • Implement enhancement requests, minor logic changes, and resolve complex build or performance defects during user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs as assigned.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as requested.

About You:

  • Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education, professional training, or work experience.

  • 4+ years' experience in BI development, with hands-on Power BI experience including DAX, data modeling, and row-level security.

Our ideal candidate will also:

  • Possess strong SQL skills, with direct experience querying cloud data platforms, lakehouses, or data warehouses.

  • Have experience managing Power BI/Fabric workspace administration, user permissions, and deployment pipelines.
  • Have a proven ability to diagnose performance bottlenecks and refresh failures in production BI environments.

Additional Nice-to-Haves / Growth Opportunities include:

  • Direct hands-on experience with the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem (Data Factory pipelines, Notebooks, Lakehouse management).

  • Experience with advanced external development tools such as Tabular Editor and DAX Studio.
  • Experience with Power BI Project files (PBIP) and Git-based version control workflows.

  • Web Integration & Application Scripting (Growth & Adaptability): Possess a basic understanding of, or a strong interest in learning, how to connect front-end and back-end web applications (such as React, .NET and Node.js) with the Power BI REST API. Over time, you will learn to manage and support scripts that query data and apply dynamic filtering from the BI environment. This is an excellent growth opportunity for a data professional looking to expand their full-stack and API integration skills.

  • Customer service oriented, professional, organized, and focused on attaining team goals.
  • Able to prioritize work and multi-task across concurrent report builds and enhancement requests.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills to convey technical concepts clearly to business stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
