Brown & Brown's Risk Solutions team is looking for a Billing Specialist to join the team in Atlanta, GA in a hybrid work environment.


The Billing Specialist is responsible for billing insurance policies in compliance with Risk Solutions billing procedures. This role ensures timely invoicing, accurate payment processing, and effective communication with internal teams to resolve billing issues and maintain financial integrity. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities while partnering effectively with billing, finance, and account management teams.


Essential Duties and Functions:

  • Collaborate with practice groups to bill insurance policies accurately and in a timely manner within AMS.
  • Initiate and monitor carrier payments by managing policy financial files in ImageRight and confirming payment completion.
  • Communicate proactively with account managers regarding outstanding billings, follow-ups, and billing-related questions.
  • Partner with account teams to reconcile client accounts and resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Analyze billing information, identify issues, and recommend solutions to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and support ongoing billing operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the billing function.

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or 2-4 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and VLOOKUP functions.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities, work independently, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Preferred

  • Commercial insurance experience and/or industry knowledge.
  • Experience with insurance billing systems such as AMS360, ImageRight, Applied Epic, or similar platforms.
  • Experience using Smartsheet.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and billing workflows.
  • Bookkeeping experience.
