Salary Range: $75,000.00 To $90,000.00 Annually

Position Details

We are looking for a BIM Specialist to join our Calgary or Vancouver office. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and coordinating Building Information Models and digital project deliverables. Working closely with Designers and Project Managers, the BIM Specialist translates design concepts into accurate, coordinated, and constructible BIM models.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain BIM models in accordance with project requirements and established standards.
  • Translate engineering concepts, calculations, sketches, layouts, and markups into coordinated BIM models and project documentation.
  • Develop BIM models to the required level of development, including highly coordinated LOD 350 models where project scope requires.
  • Model building systems, components, assemblies, supports, clearances, and interfaces to support project coordination, delivery, and reliable model-based quantity take-offs where required.
  • Produce plans, sections, elevations, schedules, details, and other model-based deliverables.
  • implementation and ongoing coordination of People & Culture programs and initiatives.
  • Use Forma Design Collaboration for day-to-day model management, multidisciplinary coordination, design reviews, and issue tracking.
  • Work closely with designers, engineers, and project managers throughout project development.
  • Support design development by identifying modelling conflicts, coordination issues, and constructability considerations.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary coordination and model review activities.
  • Coordinate model information with other disciplines and external project partners using a variety of software platforms and file formats, including Revit, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and IFC.
  • Maintain model accuracy, consistency, and alignment with project requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Apply BIM standards, project requirements, and quality management processes.
  • Perform quality reviews of models and documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Support the delivery of high-quality digital project deliverables.
  • Contribute to the improvement of modelling workflows and digital delivery practices within the design team.
  • Stay current with BIM tools, technologies, and industry best practices.

Key Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit and BIM modelling workflows.
  • Ability to develop accurate, coordinated BIM models and project documentation.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and design intent.
  • Experience with model coordination, clash detection, and constructability review processes.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), including Design Collaboration, for day-to-day model coordination, issue management, and project collaboration.
  • Working knowledge of Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), BIM 360, or similar collaboration platforms.
  • Strong attention to detail, quality, and accuracy.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work successfully within multidisciplinary project teams.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or degree in Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, Building Technology, Drafting Technology, or a related discipline; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in BIM modelling and coordination for building systems, including demonstrated experience developing coordinated models at LOD 350 and higher and producing model-based project deliverables.
  • Strong understanding of BIM principles, workflows, and digital project delivery.
  • Knowledge of building systems, construction methods, and constructability considerations.
  • Understanding of engineering and construction documentation practices and interdisciplinary design coordination.
  • Familiarity with industry BIM standards, best practices, and model-based collaboration tools.
