Location: Hybrid - Bonham Quay, Galway city

About Datavant

Datavant is a data platform company and a leader in health data exchange. Our vision is that every healthcare decision is powered by the right data, at the right time, in the right format.

Our platform connects a broad and diverse network of health data, helping make it secure, accessible, and usable. We support life sciences companies, government agencies, healthcare providers, and payers in making better-informed health decisions.

At Datavant, you’ll join a collaborative, values-driven team using technology to tackle complex healthcare challenges.

About the Placement

Datavant Ireland is seeking a motivated Business Information Systems student to join our Galway R&D Technology Center as a Technical Operations Intern.

During this six-month placement, you’ll support the Technical Operations Manager on internal projects that help our global technology organisation run effectively. You’ll apply your BIS learning to practical challenges across systems, processes, data, project coordination, and governance.

You’ll take on meaningful work, receive guidance from experienced colleagues, and collaborate with teams across Ireland and the U.S. This placement is ideal for someone who is curious, organised, and interested in how technology and business operations connect.

What You’ll Do

Support operational projects

  • Help plan, track, and deliver internal operational initiatives.
  • Coordinate tasks, timelines, and updates across teams.
  • Participate in team stand-ups, sprint ceremonies, and operational reviews.

Map and improve processes

  • Create workflow diagrams, standard operating procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify processes and automate routine tasks.
  • Explore how systems and data flows connect across the organisation.

Analyse data and support reporting

  • Gather and interpret operational data.
  • Help develop dashboards, reports, and performance metrics.
  • Learn how global technology teams maintain data quality, security, and consistency.

Collaborate and share knowledge

  • Work with colleagues in engineering, product, security, and compliance.
  • Create templates, guides, and reusable resources.
  • Contribute to a knowledge base that supports teams globally.

What You’ll Bring

You’re studying Business Information Systems and looking for an opportunity to apply your learning in a practical setting. You’ll bring:

  • An interest in technology, systems, and business operations.
  • Foundational knowledge of systems analysis, business process modelling, data management, or project management.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • An organised approach and attention to detail.
  • A willingness to ask questions, solve problems, and learn new tools.
  • The ability to take ownership of tasks and work collaboratively.

Familiarity with Excel, Google Sheets, process-mapping tools, or basic query languages is helpful but not essential.

We value potential over experience. You’ll receive support and guidance as you learn.

How You’ll Apply Your BIS Learning

This placement connects your coursework to practical experience in:

  • Systems analysis and design: Gather requirements, map workflows, and document system interactions.
  • Project management: Support planning, task tracking, and delivery.
  • Business process modelling: Analyse workflows and recommend improvements.
  • Data and information management: Contribute to reporting and learn about data governance.
  • IT governance and compliance: See how teams manage risk, maintain standards, and document controls.
  • Enterprise systems: Understand how tools, platforms, and teams support business operations.

You’ll build a foundation for a career in technology operations, systems analysis, IT management, or technology delivery.

What We Offer

  • Meaningful project work and real responsibility.
  • Mentorship from experienced technical leaders.
  • A supportive, collaborative working environment.
  • Competitive internship compensation.
  • A flexible, hybrid work environment at Bonham Quay, Galway city.
  • Opportunities to build relationships with colleagues across Ireland and the U.S.
