About The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper to join our close-knit team. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals early in their accounting or bookkeeping careers to develop a solid foundation in real estate accounting. Reporting directly to the Controller, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily transactional activities, including processing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling accounts, and maintaining accurate financial records. This role is ideal for a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to learn and grow within the real estate sector. The position allows for remote work, providing flexibility and the chance to contribute meaningfully to the company’s financial operations.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently. Fluency in English is required, along with proficient communication skills for effective interaction with team members and external partners. Candidates should be comfortable working remotely in a dynamic setting and possess a positive attitude, creativity, and adaptability to meet daily challenges. Technical proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and Microsoft Excel is essential. Experience with payment platforms such as Melio or similar accounts payable systems is a plus. Educational qualifications include an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, although equivalent experience will be considered. Candidates with 1-3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience are preferred, and familiarity with real estate, property management, or construction accounting will be advantageous but is not mandatory.

Responsibilities

Bookkeeping & Accounts Payable/Receivable:

  • Enter and code vendor invoices accurately, prepare payment batches, and submit for Controller approval.
  • Create and send customer invoices, monitor collections, and notify the Controller of any past-due balances.
  • Record daily financial transactions in the general ledger under supervision.

Reconciliation

  • Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations, identify discrepancies, and report findings to the Controller.
  • Reconcile vendor statements against the general ledger to ensure accuracy.

Month-end & Reporting Support

  • Assist in preparing supporting schedules and documentation for month-end closing processes and financial reports.
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready records and documentation for all transactions.
  • Support the annual 1099 process under the guidance of the Controller.

Benefits

Kupperman Companies offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support our employees' well-being and professional growth. This includes a competitive salary commensurate with experience, along with a full-time work schedule. Employees enjoy generous paid time off, enabling a healthy work-life balance. The role provides the opportunity to work remotely from anywhere, offering flexibility and convenience. Additionally, team members gain valuable experience in real estate and construction accounting, working closely with seasoned professionals. The company fosters a collaborative environment where contributions are recognized, and opportunities for advancement are available for motivated individuals seeking to grow their careers.
