Who we are looking for:
ASCO is in search of a high-performing Brand Strategy Partner to provide cross-functional strategic leadership and management support to ensure a consistent focus on the organization’s values and the integrity of ASCO and Conquer Cancer’s brand value propositions. The successful hire will act as a senior collaborator on the end-to-end creative process to maintain cohesive storytelling across all channels.Remote candidates welcome or primary location in Alexandria, VA.
Responsibilities
Brand Strategy
- In collaboration with the Director, Content Strategy & Brand Management and division leadership, create and oversee the brand strategy and priorities, including setting of brand guidelines, brand vision, future-growth, and environmental influences that impact ASCO and Conquer Cancer’s brand value propositions.
- As a brand lead, foster an ongoing relationship with internal stakeholders by providing ongoing brand education and understanding, developing a solid core of effective brand ambassadors who understand how to apply the brand to cohesive storytelling.
- Serve as a strategic partner to content strategy staff and marketing strategists in creative development efforts for both overarching campaign direction and individual asset development, guiding design to follow brand guidelines and design best practices while addressing campaign goals and strategy.
- Drive brand positioning discussions for new programs and products, including development of product naming, new identifiers, and creative guides.
- Translate marketing objectives into clear creative strategies, guiding the visual execution of campaigns while also directly producing design assets for high-visibility projects.
Brand Management
- Develop and manage accessible brand templates and self-service toolkits to empower staff to create brand-aligned content.
- Serve as the primary creative reviewer for high-visibility campaigns, providing visual direction and final brand approval on multimedia assets developed by the Multimedia Content Specialist and Digital Content Production Specialist.
- Contribute to the development of operational guardrails, copyright compliance, and ethical standards for the use of generative AI tools within the creative process.
- Manage onboarding activities and relationships with outside firms to ensure brand compliant creative assets and consult on execution and implementation of deliverables across all digital and print channels.
- Conduct routine visual and message-compliance audits across digital properties and print materials to identify and remediate instances of "brand drift.”
- Serve as a stakeholder lead and partner with the IT department on the organizational Digital Asset Management System (DAMS) to ensure all multimedia assets are organized and updated and its use is adopted.
- Monitor and anticipate industry design and brand storytelling trends, bringing fresh and relevant ideas to marketing and communications work.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Brand Management, Strategic Communications or related field or equivalent years of experience
- 7+ years of Marketing experience including branding, storytelling, and messaging
- 3 -4 years of experience leading complex programs or providing high-level strategic support within a professional discipline
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite programs and Canva
- Experience working with a digital asset management system (DAMS); and hands-on experience working with content management systems
- Experience directing the work of external vendors
Preferred Education and Experience
- Experience with non-profit and/or fundraising marketing
- Familiarity with project management and AI-driven content creation tools
- Experience with AP Style
- Experience with Bynder (DAMS) and Airtable

Compensation
This is an exempt position. The hiring salary range for this position is $123,000-$150,000 annualized.
The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum annualized salary ASCO expects to provide for a new hire for the position across the U.S. We thoughtfully determine and design offers based on the selected candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications.
