About This Role We're looking for part-time faculty who bring warmth, empathy, and genuine care to online teaching. You'll guide students through their learning, provide thoughtful feedback, and build meaningful connections through clear, timely communication. "To teach in a manner that respects and cares for the souls of our students is essential if we are to provide the necessary conditions where learning can most deeply and intimately begin." – bell hooks, Teaching to Transgress What You'll Do Teaching (6-week terms; asynchronous, you manage your time) Engage in your classroom at least 4 days per week Facilitate discussion board conversations Assess student work with caring, timely feedback Be available via video or phone when needed Create a supportive virtual classroom where students feel safe Occasionally: Potentially collaborate on developing course content Serve on committees Support college needs or course maintenance Collaborate with colleagues on faculty-lead and leadership directed projects Training & Support You'll receive training in the pedagogy of online teaching, our learning management system, and university policies. You'll be paired with a peer mentor starting with your first teaching assignment. Qualifications: Master's degree in the discipline being taught or a closely related field required. Three or more years of postsecondary teaching experience preferred. Experience teaching adult learners, particularly in a community college setting, strongly preferred. Experience teaching in an online or distance-learning environment preferred Who We're Looking For B.S. In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected compensation rate for this position is as follows: Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on type of course taught and length of course Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on type of course taught and length of course Actual pay may be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as type of course taught; experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility. Walden also offers other opportunities for its contributing faculty members, such as dissertation/doctoral study committee chair positions, research reviewing, and dissertation and doctoral study mentoring.
