At MiniMed, you can begin a lifelong career of exploration and innovation, while helping make a difference in the lives of people living with diabetes around the globe. You'll lead with purpose, breaking down barriers to innovation for a more connected, compassionate world.

About the Role

At MiniMed, data science only matters when it changes a decision, a workflow, or an outcome for the people who depend on our therapies. We are looking for a Builder Product Manager, AI & Data Science to own that last mile — the space between a well-framed business problem and a delivered, validated result.

You will not be measured by whether a model shipped; you will be measured by whether the business outcome moved. When a solution is not yet delivering the value it should, you dig deeper into the problem, keep the effort moving forward, and reshape it until it delivers.

This is a hybrid position based in Northridge, CA or Atlanta, GA.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Own the outcome, end to end, for a portfolio of AI and data science initiatives — from problem framing through business-validated ROI, not just model delivery.
  • Shape and probe demand from business partners across Commercial, Marketing, Manufacturing & Quality, and Support; translate ambiguous asks into sharply framed, solvable problems.
  • Drive feature and data-source ideation — when a model underperforms, lead the "what other signals do we need" conversation and re-scope the problem accordingly.
  • Coordinate the triad of business stakeholders, data scientists, and data engineers so a use case moves without a senior leader having to personally course-correct it.
  • Validate every model against business KPIs, not just offline accuracy — establish success metrics and hold the initiative accountable to measurable value.
  • Reflect and pivot: recognize when an approach has stalled and redirect effort before it consumes a cycle.
  • Provide outcome-owning leadership for a cross-functional pod where the operating model calls for it — coordinating UI/UX and solution-engineering dependencies through influence. This is a leadership-through-influence dimension, not a people-management role; the position has no direct reports.
  • Apply responsible-AI and evaluation discipline appropriate to a regulated medical-device environment (privacy, auditability, human-in-the-loop where required).

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role, please ensure the minimum requirements are evident on your resume.

  • Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of experience in data/analytics product management, data science, or a closely related technical-business role.
  • OR Advanced degree and 2+ years of the experience above.
  • Experience and ownership of AI/ML or analytics initiatives through to a measured business outcome (not solely model delivery).

Nice to Have

  • Experience embedding with a business unit as a data-science/analytics partner, or leading a cross-functional pod/squad as an outcome-owning product owner.
  • Familiarity with modern AI product management practice — dual product-and-model metrics, evaluation harnesses, and A/B/online validation of model value.
  • Experience in a regulated industry (medical device, healthcare, financial services) and comfort with HIPAA, data governance, and audit constraints.
  • Working familiarity with a modern AI stack (e.g., Databricks, enterprise agent platforms, and LangGraph/LangSmith-style agent tooling).
  • Strong technical fluency in AI/ML — able to reason confidently about problem framing, feature/data-source selection, model evaluation, and modern agent tooling, and to engage credibly with data scientists and engineers. This is a technically fluent PM role; day-to-day, hands-on production coding is not expected, but the technical grounding is a real requirement, not optional.
  • Proven ability to influence without authority across business and technical stakeholders.
  • Structured problem-framing toolkit and strong executive communication / storytelling skills.
