About the Team

The Business Operations, Strategy & Analytics team is a strategic partner to leaders across Wolters Kluwer, combining business operations, analytics, strategic planning, and operational excellence to solve complex challenges and deliver measurable outcomes.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Director to lead a team focused on improving business performance, operational effectiveness, and productivity across Wolters Kluwer. You will partner closely with senior leaders across business units, Finance, Technology, Strategic Sourcing, Global Business Services, and Corporate Functions — identifying opportunities, building alignment, and driving initiatives from concept through execution. Success in this role means leading through influence rather than authority, and bringing clarity and structure to ambiguous, high-stakes problems.

You will lead one of three pillars in a newly designed operating model, supported by an experienced associate director bench and dedicated business analysis capacity. The remit is broad across business performance, processes, and operating effectiveness, but anchored in cost savings and value realization: year one is about building the savings pipeline and the benefits-tracking discipline that supports it.

Key Responsibilities

Business Performance & Operational Excellence

  • Build business cases, savings pipelines, and benefit-tracking methodologies that withstand financial scrutiny.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives that improve efficiency, service quality, cost position, and productivity, with measurable and sustainable outcomes.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs, scorecards, and reporting frameworks that support executive decision-making.
  • Identify business risks, performance gaps, and improvement opportunities, and recommend actions that close them.
  • Design scalable operating models, governance frameworks, and management processes.

Strategic Analysis & Decision Support

  • Structure and solve complex business problems using data, research, financial analysis, and stakeholder input.
  • Translate quantitative and qualitative findings into concise, actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Develop executive presentations and business narratives that drive alignment and action.

Portfolio & Program Leadership

  • Lead high-priority initiatives and special projects tied to key business objectives.
  • Manage multiple workstreams simultaneously, balancing competing priorities and stakeholder expectations.
  • Monitor progress, risks, and dependencies, and ensure initiatives are operationalized and embedded into the business.

Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of business operations and operational excellence professionals.
  • Provide clear direction, prioritization, and feedback that enable people to grow.
  • Build organizational capability by attracting, developing, and retaining top talent, and support broader succession planning.
  • Foster an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are valued, and continuous improvement is the norm.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 10+ years in business operations, operational excellence, strategy, management consulting, analytics, or finance leadership roles.
  • Proven track record leading complex cross-functional initiatives with measurable business impact.
  • Demonstrated success partnering with and influencing senior leaders.
  • Strong business, financial, and analytical acumen, with the ability to turn data into practical action.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams in fast-paced, matrixed environments.

Preferred

  • MBA or other advanced degree.
  • Experience in software, SaaS, information services, or shared services environments.
  • Experience leading cost optimization, productivity, or business performance initiatives.
  • Experience applying analytics, automation, and digital capabilities to improve outcomes.
