A contract opportunity to own discovery and requirements work inside a finance-focused data team.

This is a hands on Data / Business Analyst role for someone who can operate between finance stakeholders and technical delivery teams, turning business needs into clear, usable data requirements.

You will join a finance data spoke working across finance systems, data platforms and delivery teams, with genuine scope to move beyond discovery into data analysis and solution design as the work progresses.

Where do you come in?

You are naturally curious, comfortable moving between business context and data detail.

You can gather requirements from finance stakeholders, translate them into clear data requirements for technical teams, and just as easily translate technical detail back for a non-technical audience.

This is not a process mapping role.

You will be expected to get into the data and systems detail, not just document how things currently work.

Challenge and opportunity

You will support finance data, systems and reporting work, with an initial focus on discovery, investigation and requirements gathering across finance data, systems and reporting needs.

The opportunity includes:

• Leading discovery and investigation across finance data, systems and reporting needs
• Gathering, documenting and clarifying business and data requirements
• Supporting data analysis and helping shape fit for purpose solutions
• Working across finance systems, data platforms and delivery teams throughout the engagement

What you will be doing

• Lead discovery and investigation across finance data, systems and reporting needs
• Gather, document and clarify business and data requirements
• Translate data concepts for non-technical stakeholders, and business context for technical teams
• Support data analysis and help shape fit for purpose solutions
• Work across finance systems, data platforms and delivery teams

What we are looking for

• A strong blend of business analysis and data analysis experience
• A proven ability to work beyond process mapping, comfortable getting into data requirements, analysis and investigation
• Finance domain experience preferred
• ERP systems experience like SAP is highly desirable
• Clear stakeholder communication and the ability to simplify technical detail for a non-technical audience
• Experience in data, analytics, migration or systems change environments would be valuable

Culture and work style

This contract role is 9 months, with potential extension.

Auckland based candidates are preferred, though remote candidates elsewhere in NZ are going to be considered.
