Business Analyst - Web Scraping

Job Description This is a remote position. Role Overview Alternative Path is seeking a skilled Business Analyst – Web Scraping to work on client projects with a major US-based hedge fund recognized for its data-first investment approach. This is a high-impact role where you will bridge clients, internal stakeholders, and development teams to deliver high-quality proprietary datasets that directly support investment decisions. You will own the request process end-to-end — from understanding requirements and shaping solutions, to validating deliverables and enhancing data products. This role combines client interaction, technical data validation, and process innovation, offering visibility across multiple business functions. T imings : – US / Rotatio nal Shift Location : Remote Key Responsibilities:- Own the Request Process • Engage with end users and investment teams to gather, clarify, and document web scraping requirements. • Translate business needs into actionable technical specifications for engineers. • Develop clear execution plans for developers to deliver optimal results. • Review and approve scraped datasets before client delivery. Enhance Deliverables • Use SQL and reporting tools to generate custom datasets, reports, and enriched data products. • Create and execute quality control (QC) checks to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and compliance. Improve KPIs & QA Methods • Develop new KPIs and QA processes to measure and improve scraping performance. • Contribute to building tools, scripts, and workflows for higher efficiency. • Document processes and create reusable resources for requirement gathering, validation, and delivery. Cross-Functional Collaboration • Partner with developers to troubleshoot and resolve data quality issues. • Provide feedback to refine scraping strategies, formats, and delivery methods What We’re Looking For • 3+ years of experience as an investment data/business analyst with experience in SQL and data analysis. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Experience with Python. • Hands-on experience with web scraping. • Advanced SQL skills (MySQL, PostgreSQL). • Strong analytical mindset and passion for data. • Knowledge of project management tools is highly desirable • Self-starter attitude with the ability to own outcomes end-to-end in distributed, fast-paced environments •The ability to effectively work as an individual contributor and possess strong analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills, multitasking, and deliver under tight deadlines •The profile involves effective communication across Clients’ facilities globally, and hence possessing excellent interpersonal and communication skills in verbal and written English is a must. • A desire to work in an international team environment, often under pressure and with multiple stakeholder Benefits • Medical Insurance • Group Accidental Insurance • Internet & Mobile Bill Reimbursements
