Mission Lane is combining the power of data, technology, and exceptional service to pave a clear way forward for millions of people on the path to financial success. By attracting top talent and leveraging cutting-edge technology, we’re enabling people to unlock real financial progress. Sound like a mission you can get behind?
Business Manager, Credit Line Increase Program (CLIP)
Mission Lane is hiring a Business Manager to own the outcomes of one of our credit programs, reporting to the Director, Portfolio Management. The Portfolio Management Team is responsible for owning the underwriting process throughout the lifetime of existing accounts, understanding customer lifetime value (LTV), and creating pathways to customer success and graduation, all while staying true to our mission. This includes our Credit Line Increase Program (CLIP).
The impact you'll make:
For a lot of our customers, getting their Mission Lane credit card is the first step toward building their credit. But what comes next is where the real progress happens: earning a higher credit line or a better rate, or qualifying for a second card.
As Business Manager, you own the program that decides these outcomes for existing customers. Your job is figuring out where that program needs to be a year from now, whether that means questioning if the current criteria still hold up, or finding room to approve more people while catching risk earlier. Nail that, and the program keeps getting better at finding the people ready for that next step.
Mission Lane is still young, but we've already built a solid foundation and are experiencing steady growth. There's never been a better time to help shape how we get this right.
As Business Manager, you will:
- Use AI-driven tools to speed up and sharpen your analysis
- Adjust our approach as customer behavior and the market change
- Turn financial data into clear recommendations that grow the business while managing risk responsibly
- Run small tests in market, then use what you learn to decide where we invest next
- Guide and mentor analysts working alongside you on the program
- Develop actionable strategies based on data-driven insights and model the expected financial impacts to improve our underwriting & pricing strategies while ensuring customer success
- Design and enhance the customer lifetime value (LTV) model to drive business growth
- Present and communicate clear recommendations to senior leadership
- Enable long-term growth by pushing forward our testing agenda to build insights into consumer behavior and invest in future growth
- Collaborate with cross functional teams across product, data science, and engineering to bring strategies to market
You'll thrive in this role if:
- You understand the whole card business system, from acquisition to risk to engagement, and you can trace how a change in one part ripples through the rest
- You're curious enough to dig into the reasoning behind a strategy, down to the assumptions it's built on, so you understand it at an elemental level
- You're comfortable defining the problem yourself when nobody's handed you one, and thinking in terms of the next year, not just the next task
- You take ownership of your work end to end, catching your own mistakes before they compound
- You can explain a business problem clearly enough that someone outside your immediate team could follow your thinking
Minimum qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in a highly analytical role
- A bachelor's or master's degree in economics, finance, engineering, mathematics, or a similarly quantitative field, with a strong academic record
- A track record of leading complex, cross-functional analytical projects from start to finish
- Experience guiding or mentoring other analysts
- Comfort working in SQL, Python, or similar tools for data analysis
- Ability to travel ~4+ times per year for high quality in-person collaboration
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working with credit cards or other consumer lending products
- Experience helping scale a business in a fast-moving startup environment
- Strong SQL or Python skills
- Experience using AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor, etc.)
Compensation:
Annual full-time starting base salary range: $140,000-160,000
This role is eligible for additional compensation in the forms of participation in our annual incentive and equity programs.
Pay is based on factors such as work experience, education, certification(s), training, skills, and competencies related to the role. Mission Lane also offers a comprehensive benefits plan, which includes paid time off, 401(k) match, a monthly wellness stipend, health/dental/vision insurance options, disability coverage, paid parental leave, flexible spending account (for childcare and healthcare), life insurance, and a remote-first work environment.
About Mission Lane:
Founded in December 2018, Mission Lane is a purpose-driven fintech company based in the U.S., with headquarters in Richmond, Virginia.
It all started with a realization: nearly fifty percent of the adult population in the U.S. doesn’t have access to a clear line of credit. Most traditional credit card companies either overlook or overcharge this group because they have less-than-perfect credit scores or no scores at all. We decided this just wouldn’t do.
In partnership with our sponsor banks, we offer credit cards under the Mission Lane brand name, with better, clearer terms, and a more refined customer experience than the alternatives available to people working hard to improve their credit. To date, over four million consumers have chosen Mission Lane, earning high customer ratings on Credit Karma for its market segment and industry leading Net Promoter scores.
Mission Lane has cumulatively raised over $600 million of equity from leading investors, including Invus Opportunities, QED Investors, LL Funds, funds affiliated with Oaktree Capital Management, and other leading investors.
Our commitment to a workplace built on respect and dignity is guided by our core value of Unity. We believe that everyone plays a vital role in our shared purpose, and we actively cultivate an environment where all individuals have the opportunity to do their best work. By fostering a culture of empathy and collaboration, we create a strong sense of belonging and support for every team member.
Mission Lane is an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, or gender identity), national origin, age, disability, genetic information, or any other protected status.
Mission Lane provides reasonable accommodations to applicants who need them for medical or religious reasons, as required by law. Applicants can initiate an accommodation request by contacting peopleexperience@missionlane.com.
Mission Lane is not sponsoring new applicant employment authorization and please, no third-party recruiters.
Application Integrity:
Our cardholders trust us with their financial well-being, and this trust starts with the integrity of the people on our team. We're looking for team members who share our dedication to transparency and truth. Please verify that the information in your application is accurate and complete.
Providing any information to Mission Lane that is not completely truthful at any point during the application or hiring process may result in removal from the hiring process, disqualification from future opportunities, withdrawal of an offer or other sanctions for candidates and, in addition for employees, disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
