Business Continuity Analyst

Salary Range: $120,000.00 To $145,000.00 Annually This role is located in New York City and will require a hybrid work schedule of at least 2 days in office per week. This role is for Assistant Vice President level candidates. Department Overview: The Americas Division (“AD”) was established in the Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Limited, New York Branch) (“SMTBNY”) to perform corporate functions and supervise U.S. entities. Established under the AD are the “Global Banking Unit (“GBU”), Americas Division” and “Global Markets Unit (“GMU”), Americas Division” which performs business functions. The Administration Department (“ADM”) provides resources and various support services that facilitate the Branch’s flow of business in a cost-efficient way. ADM manages communication with Head Office and Branch departments on various issues, including the management of the disaster recovery process. Your Role Overview: The Business Continuity Analyst, Assistant Vice President, reports to the Business Continuity Coordinator in the Administration Department. This role requires a significant understanding of business continuity planning and crisis management methodologies. The business continuity analyst will maintain and improve the business continuity and crisis management functions of the New York Branch to ensure resiliency and compliance with regulatory guidance. The business continuity analyst will support preparation for and response to actual emergencies, able to assume leadership if needed. Your Duties and Responsibilities Lead and manage business continuity enhancement initiatives, including process improvements, resiliency capability development, and remediation of identified gaps. Independently analyze resiliency issues and develop, elaborate, and implement practical solutions in coordination with business units and support functions. Work closely and facilitate discussions among stakeholders to develop the resiliency of the branch, updating the business continuity team on progress. Responsible for administering and improving the branch’s business continuity program, including: Ensuring that program components (Business Impact Analysis, Risk Assessment, plans, strategies, etc.) are current and effective. Ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory and internal business continuity and operational resilience requirements. Organizing business recovery tests and exercises, and completing After Action Reports which identify issues and lessons learned, including but not limited to: Tabletop Exercises Work Area Recovery Site tests Emergency Notification System Tests Developing schedules and materials for business continuity training and awareness to ensure all staff is proficient in implementing business continuity plans. Revising and maintaining branch wide policy, procedures, and manuals as needed Reporting for executive management and the business continuity working group Administering and managing content on the Business Continuity SharePoint site Supporting the Crisis Management Team through preparing emergency communications, situational reports, ensure execution of action items, create post-incident reports. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management. Your Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 5+ years of related experience in business continuity, disaster recovery, or cyber resilience planning Understanding of financial institution operations, payment processes, treasury, lending, and relevant regulatory expectations related to business continuity, operational resilience, and cyber resilience including AI related risks. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.) Demonstrated ability to independently lead medium-sized projects involving cross-functional stakeholders include facilitation and influencing skills to challenge and gain consensus among stakeholders. Excellent analytical skills Excellent verbal and written skills Ability to interact and work efficiently and effectively with employees across the organization. Strong administrative skills, including effectiveness in developing project plans to achieve target dates. Strong and productive team player and comfortable working independently to meet tight deadlines Availability to provide 24x7 support during emergencies and significant disruption events. Professional designation – Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP, MBCI) is a plus. Prior business continuity experience in a financial institution is preferred.
