Business Development Manager

Is this job info correct?

A family-owned workwear supplier is looking for someone to win new service contracts.

Field-based, home-working, anywhere from the Midlands through to the M62 corridor and down to the South East and South West. You decide where to focus within that area.

Company overview

The company supplies branded workwear programmes to employers. Embroidery, print, stock-holding and dispatch all happen in-house under one roof. The owners invested in that capability and then built the sales side around it. When you sell the service, you know it will be delivered because the business controls the whole thing.

This part of the business has grown substantially over the past three years, so the service is proven and the clients are happy to talk about it. There is plenty of room left to grow it, which is where you come in.

What you would be doing

Finding businesses that need a workwear supplier and winning their contract. That means prospecting, getting in front of the right person, understanding what they need, and closing the deal.

There is marketing activity and internal support behind you generating leads, so you are not working from a blank sheet. But the best opportunities in this market still come from going and looking.

The current Head of Sales rates calling in on businesses in person, because you can see what people are wearing, how many of them there are, and what condition the kit is in before you ever speak to procurement. Very few people do that any more.

The opportunity

The business supplies across a range of sectors, from hospitality and catering through to manufacturing. If you have a sector you know well and enjoy selling into, they have the supplier network to put the right products in front of those customers, and the service record to keep them.

Once a client is on board you will manage the relationship, but the core of this role is winning new accounts. If your week does not include new conversations with potential customers, something has gone wrong.

You report to a Head of Sales who took this service to market and grew it, so you are reporting to someone who has done the job you are being asked to do.

Who this would suit

You are already selling into businesses and winning contracts. Your background might be in workwear, corporate clothing, uniforms, textile services, laundry and rental, or safety and workplace supplies. The product knowledge is learnable. The ability to find opportunities and close them is not.

You are comfortable working on your own, managing your own diary, and being judged on what you bring in.

Package

£35,000 to £45,000 depending on experience plus bonus aligned to contract wins. Company car. Home-based with regular travel across your region.

You are joining a business with a proven service, strong testimonials, and a product you can stand behind. You are not starting from scratch.

How to apply

This role is being recruited exclusively by Huntr and I will also be approaching people directly as part of the search.

If you would like a conversation before applying, I can be reached at daniel@huntr.co.uk or 07787 244007.

Worth sharing if you know someone this would suit.
