Description

Tangram is a portfolio company of Balavant. Tangram Insurance Services is recruiting for: Business Development Manager – Construction & HVAC

About Tangram

Tangram is an independent, growth-stage insurance MGA building something exceptional — on our own terms. For over 25 years, we’ve been redefining what an insurance intermediary can be: nimble, creative, and relentlessly focused on delivering specialized solutions better, faster, and smarter than anyone else. We are a team of builders, challengers, and collaborators. We take pride in doing meaningful work, supporting our partners, and constantly finding better ways to serve our brokers and insureds.

The Opportunity

Tangram Insurance Services is seeking a driven Business Development Manager to build and expand broker distribution across the construction segment, with a primary focus on validating and launching a new HVAC insurance program targeted for 2027. This role will also help accelerate distribution and profitable production for Tangram's existing Portable Sanitation and Franchised Equipment Dealers programs.

This is a high-impact, market-facing role for a relationship-oriented sales professional who understands construction distribution and knows how to find the producers who control specialty contractor books. The successful candidate will combine disciplined sales execution, strong commercial insurance knowledge, construction and HVAC market credibility, and an entrepreneurial approach to building a new program from the ground up.

What You’ll Do

HVAC Distribution Roadmap & Program Launch

  • Build and execute the distribution roadmap required to support a successful 2027 launch of Tangram's new HVAC program.
  • Map the HVAC distribution landscape across existing and prospective broker partners, identifying the agencies, offices, and individual producers who control meaningful HVAC and mechanical contractor books.
  • Engage target producers now to validate appetite for the proposed program, understand incumbent markets and pain points, identify renewal opportunities, and determine where Tangram can earn a meaningful opportunity to compete.
  • Translate market feedback into a measurable launch plan that identifies addressable premium, priority producers, expected submission flow, renewal timing, and a qualified pre-launch pipeline.

Construction Distribution & Profitable Production Growth

  • Generate a consistent flow of qualified construction submissions through outbound prospecting, broker development, referrals, industry relationships, and targeted campaigns, with particular emphasis on HVAC, Portable Sanitation, and Franchised Equipment Dealers.
  • Achieve quarterly and annual goals for pipeline development, broker activation, qualified submissions, and new business production across assigned programs.
  • Focus sales activity on target contractors, geographies, producer relationships, and coverage opportunities that support profitable, sustainable growth.
  • Partner closely with Underwriting on program design feedback, account strategy, opportunity prioritization, and conversion of high-quality submissions.

Broker Relationship Management

  • Build trusted relationships with agency principals, construction practice leaders, producers, and commercial insurance teams that specialize in contractors and related industries.
  • Educate brokers on Tangram's existing programs and, as the HVAC product is developed, build awareness of the emerging value proposition, appetite, coverage capabilities, and launch roadmap.
  • Support large and complex construction opportunities through broker meetings, account strategy, producer planning, and coordinated presentations.
  • Create a strong broker experience through responsiveness, follow-through, construction market knowledge, and consistent communication.

Market Presence & Program Positioning

  • Represent Tangram at industry conferences, association events, trade shows, broker meetings, and other market-facing opportunities.
  • Develop a strong understanding of construction and HVAC insurance market dynamics, incumbent carriers, competitor offerings, coverage trends, producer economics, and emerging opportunities.
  • Provide actionable market intelligence and producer feedback to leadership, Underwriting, Marketing, and program-development teams, particularly as the HVAC offering is built and tested.
  • Help refine program appetite, positioning, campaigns, sales materials, launch strategy, and distribution priorities based on real market feedback.

Sales Execution & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Maintain accurate and timely records of broker relationships, producer mapping, pipeline, renewal dates, opportunities, activities, and results in HubSpot.
  • Communicate pipeline status, producer engagement, expected production, market feedback, launch readiness, and obstacles clearly and consistently.
  • Collaborate with Underwriting, Marketing, Operations, Technology, and executive leadership to build the HVAC launch roadmap, move opportunities forward, and solve broker needs.
  • Operate with professionalism, urgency, curiosity, accountability, and care in every interaction.

Who You’ll Work With

At Tangram, you’ll join a team that values collaboration, accountability, and creativity in equal measures. We operate with the entrepreneurial spirit of a start-up and the foundation of a 25-year success story. You’ll be supported by leadership that invests in your growth, colleagues who push and inspire you, and a company culture that celebrates both success and the lessons learned along the way. Here, you’ll have the chance to build something meaningful — for yourself, for our partners, and for the industries we serve. Ready to build something exceptional with us? Apply today and help power the next phase of Tangram’s growth.
