IES | Integrated Environmental Solutions Location: Australia (Sydney or Melbourne preferred) Remote/Hybrid considered
Reporting to: APAC Division Head
Employment Type: Full-Time
About IES
IES is a global leader in building performance analysis software, on a mission to decarbonise the built environment. Our flagship product, the IES Virtual Environment (IESVE), is the world's leading integrated suite for energy modelling, compliance, thermal comfort, HVAC, daylighting, and airflow analysis — trusted by some of the world's most respected AECO firms including Arup, AECOM, Gensler and Stantec. Following our acquisition by Apax Partners, IES is accelerating its global growth, and the ANZ region represents a significant and exciting opportunity.
The Role
We are looking for a driven and commercially minded Business Development Representative to join our ANZ team. This is a new-logo focused, field sales role responsible for identifying, engaging and closing new business across Australia and New Zealand. You will be the primary point of contact for prospective customers in the region, evangelising the value of IESVE and IES's broader SaaS solutions to engineering firms, architectural practices, sustainability consultancies and built environment organisations.
Reporting directly to the APAC Division Head at the start, you will receive strong mentorship and support while being given the autonomy to build and manage your own pipeline. This is an ideal role for a salesperson with 2–4 years of B2B software sales experience who is ready to take ownership of a high-potential territory.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Development
- Proactively identify, research and engage prospective new-logo clients across Australia and New Zealand within the AECO sector.
- Build and manage a healthy sales pipeline from outbound prospecting through to contract close, utilising CRM tools to track activity, opportunities and forecasts.
- Conduct discovery calls, product demonstrations and consultative sales conversations that clearly articulate the technical and commercial value of IESVE.
- Develop tailored proposals and presentations aligned to each prospect's specific business challenges, compliance requirements and sustainability goals.
- Drive the full sales cycle — from first contact through to signed agreement — in a structured and repeatable way.
Market Engagement
- Represent IES at industry events, trade shows, and relevant association forums across ANZ (e.g. AIRAH, GBCA, CIBSE ANZ, ABSA).
- Build awareness of IES solutions within the ANZ market, identifying new verticals and use cases that align with regional regulatory and sustainability drivers (e.g. NCC energy compliance, Green Star, NABERS).
- Develop relationships with key influencers and specifiers within architecture, engineering and sustainability consulting practices.
Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with the APAC Division Head to align on territory strategy, target accounts, and revenue objectives.
- Collaborate with the IES technical pre-sales, customer success and marketing teams to ensure a seamless prospect experience and effective handover at point of sale.
- Provide accurate pipeline reporting, forecasting and activity updates as required.
- Feed market intelligence back to the broader IES business, including competitor activity, customer feedback and emerging trends.
Personal Development
- Develop a thorough understanding of the IESVE product suite, including its key modules, workflows and value drivers for different buyer personas.
- Stay informed on ANZ building regulations, energy codes and sustainability certifications relevant to IES customers.
- Actively participate in IES training, enablement and onboarding programmes.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- 2–6 years of B2B software sales experience with a demonstrable track record of new-logo acquisition (hunter mentality).
- Experience managing a full sales cycle — from prospecting and qualification through to close.
- Comfortable with consultative, value-led selling in a technical environment.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage both technical and business stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, organised and comfortable working with a degree of autonomy in a remote/distributed team.
- Proficiency with CRM platforms (Salesforce or similar) and standard sales tools.
Desirable
- Experience selling into the AEC/AECO industry (architecture, engineering, construction, sustainability consulting).
- Background in or exposure to SaaS sales — familiarity with subscription models, annual recurring revenue (ARR) and renewal dynamics.
- Working knowledge of the IES Virtual Environment (IESVE) or competing building performance analysis tools (e.g. EnergyPlus, DesignBuilder, OpenStudio).
- Familiarity with ANZ sustainability frameworks such as NABERS, Green Star, NCC/NatHERS or BASIX.
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. building services engineering, architecture, environmental science, business) is advantageous but not essential.
What We Offer
- The opportunity to be part of a mission-driven global business at a pivotal stage of growth.
- A competitive base salary + performance-based commission structure.
- Mentorship and development from an experienced ANZ divisional leadership team.
- Access to world-class product training and IES global enablement resources.
- Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
- A collaborative, inclusive and purpose-driven team culture.
IES is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds, experience levels and disciplines. If you are passionate about sustainability and want to contribute to decarbonising the built environment, we'd love to hear from you.
