Show job description

We are seeking a motivated Business Development Executive (BDE) to help grow our IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) and Data Center Services business.

The primary responsibility of this position is to identify and develop relationships with organizations that are retiring, replacing, consolidating, or decommissioning enterprise IT equipment. The BDR will prospect for new opportunities, identify the appropriate decision-makers, understand upcoming IT asset disposition needs, and create qualified opportunities for the ITAD sales team.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys prospecting, researching organizations, developing new relationships, and opening doors with enterprise customers.

What You'll Do

  • Identify organizations with upcoming IT equipment refreshes, data-center decommissions, consolidations, relocations, cloud migrations, and other technology lifecycle events.
  • Prospect into enterprise accounts through phone, email, LinkedIn, industry networking, referrals, and other outbound channels.
  • Identify and engage key decision-makers within IT, Data Center Operations, Infrastructure, Procurement, Finance, Sustainability, Facilities, and Asset Management.
  • Develop opportunities involving the disposition of enterprise technology assets, including:
    • Servers and compute equipment
    • Storage systems and storage arrays
    • Network switches, routers, firewalls, and related infrastructure
    • Data-center racks, cabinets, PDUs, UPS systems, and supporting infrastructure
    • CPUs, memory, HDDs, SSDs/NVMe, GPUs, network cards, optics, and other components
    • Desktops, laptops, workstations, monitors, and end-user computing equipment
    • Telecom and other enterprise electronic equipment
  • Qualify prospective opportunities by determining asset types, approximate quantities, locations, project timing, current disposition practices, and customer requirements.
  • Introduce customers to our ITAD capabilities, including secure logistics, asset auditing, data sanitization and destruction, testing, remarketing, value recovery, recycling, and reporting.
  • Maintain accurate prospect, activity, and opportunity information within the company's CRM.
  • Coordinate qualified opportunities with sales leadership and operational teams for further discovery, site evaluation, pricing, and proposal development.
  • Develop relationships that lead to recurring ITAD programs rather than solely one-time equipment pickups.
  • Maintain an active pipeline of prospective customers and future IT asset disposition projects.

Who We're Looking For

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Comfortable initiating conversations with new prospects and senior-level business and technology professionals.
  • Persistent, organized, and self-motivated.
  • Strong research and prospecting abilities.
  • Ability to learn enterprise IT hardware and communicate effectively about technology lifecycle services.
  • Comfortable working toward measurable prospecting, meeting, pipeline, and revenue-development goals.
  • Experience using CRM and sales prospecting platforms is preferred.
  • Previous experience in ITAD, data centers, enterprise technology, technology resale, electronics recycling, managed services, or B2B technology sales is highly desirable.

Understanding of Enterprise IT Equipment

The successful candidate does not need to be an engineer but should develop a working understanding of the equipment our customers are retiring, including:

Compute: Rack servers, blade servers, GPU/AI servers, compute nodes and chassis.

Storage: SAN, NAS, storage arrays, disk shelves, JBOD/JBOF systems and tape infrastructure.

Networking: Switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, network appliances and wireless infrastructure.

Components: CPUs, memory, HDDs, SSDs, NVMe drives, GPUs, NICs, HBAs, RAID controllers and optical transceivers.

Data Center Infrastructure: Racks, cabinets, PDUs, UPS systems, KVM equipment and related infrastructure.

End-User Technology: Desktops, workstations, laptops, tablets, monitors, printers and related peripherals.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this position is measured by the BDE's ability to consistently identify organizations with IT asset disposition needs and convert those prospects into qualified sales opportunities.

Key performance indicators may include:

  • New target accounts identified
  • Decision-maker contacts developed
  • Prospecting activity and engagement
  • Qualified meetings generated
  • Qualified ITAD projects identified
  • Pipeline value created
  • Conversion of opportunities into active customers
  • Development of recurring ITAD relationships

Ideal Customer Opportunities

The BDE should actively look for organizations experiencing events such as:

  • Data-center decommissioning or consolidation
  • Server, storage, or networking refreshes
  • Cloud migrations
  • Office closures or relocations
  • Corporate mergers and acquisitions
  • Technology standardization projects
  • End-user device refresh programs
  • Infrastructure modernization
  • AI/HPC infrastructure upgrades
  • Lease returns
  • Large quantities of surplus or retired IT equipment
  • Organizations seeking improved IT asset recovery, data security, sustainability, or recycling programs

Our Value Proposition

Our goal is not simply to remove obsolete technology. We help organizations securely manage retired IT assets while protecting sensitive data, maintaining chain of custody, maximizing recoverable asset value, and responsibly recycling equipment that has reached the end of its useful life.

The Business Development Executive plays a critical role in identifying those opportunities and introducing customers to a more comprehensive approach to IT Asset Disposition.
