Job Description:
The School of Music, Dance and Theatre in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts seeks a half-time Business Office Specialist that works under general supervision of the Senior Program Manager. Selected candidate will provide administrative, student employment, compliance, records, reporting, guest artist support, and other general business office projects as assigned.
Position Salary Range:
- $21.20 - $24.03 per hour within posted range.
Essential Duties:
- Manages student employment processes for the School of Music, Dance and Theatre.
- Coordinates student worker and graduate teaching assistantship hiring processes, including onboarding, Workday HCM integration, offer letters, payroll activity, and activity pay processing.
- Addresses student worker Federal Work Study and Social Security Number requests.
- Implements student worker wage increase requests.
- Manages international student employment matters related to Sprintax and employment authorization.
- Coordinates guest artist activity in collaboration with other staff for the School of Music, Dance and Theatre, from initial contact through final payment.
- Tracks departmental compliance with required training and follows up as needed to support timely completion.
- Maintains records requiring classification, organization, and compilation of varied information.
- Compiles special reports or studies requiring analysis of complex or technical data; identifies appropriate sources, extracts necessary information, and performs specialized calculations.
- Drafts correspondence, responds to questions or complaints, and makes adjustments within established guidelines.
- Recommends changes to policies or procedures affecting assigned functions.
- Plans, organizes, and prioritizes workload to meet established deadlines.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Experience with ASU human resources databases, software, and processes, such as PeopleSoft, Workday HCM, Adobe, Canvas, Interfolio, Google Docs, Airtable, and Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- Demonstrated knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of human resource administration.
- Demonstrated commitment to exemplary customer service, including active listening, timely response to inquiries, ownership of concerns or problems, professionalism, subject matter expertise, and ongoing professional development.
- Experience with problem solving and decision-making in a complex organization.
- Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Experience using personal computers and related software applications.
- Experience recording and compiling materials for reports.
Working Environment:
- Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse.
- Regular use of standard office equipment including but not limited to computer workstation / laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, copier, and telephone.

Flexible work options
