This role will start as a 1099 contractor for 90 days and then have the opportunity to go full time. The role is open to US, Canada, and Western Europe ONLY. About TNT Growth TNT Growth is a performance marketing agency operating at the intersection of growth strategy, paid media, and creative production for DTC and B2B brands. We’re a remote-first team of 30+ people running on EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) and building the operational infrastructure to scale. About This Role We’re hiring a Business Operations Associate to join our team on a contract-to-hire basis. This role has two phases: Phase 1 (Weeks 1–12): You’ll serve as interim operational coverage during a planned leadership leave, working directly with the CEO and department leads across finance, people operations, and company operations. This is a high-trust, high-visibility period where you’ll keep critical business functions running smoothly. Phase 2 (Ongoing): Once the leave period ends, the role transitions to its permanent scope — owning the day-to-day of people operations support, project management, operational reporting, and cross-functional coordination. If the contract goes well, you convert to full-time with an expanded seat on the business operations team. Phase 1: Interim Responsibilities (Weeks 1–12) During the leave period, you will be the operational point person across finance and company operations. The CEO will retain final decision-making authority, but you are responsible for the day-to-day execution, triage, and follow-through. Finance Operations Contractor invoice review: Review incoming contractor invoices against the financial forecast. Flag discrepancies, missing costs, or new vendors not yet in projections to Finance and escalate to the CEO as needed. Cost tracker oversight: Periodically review the cost tracker for accuracy. Verify invoice numbers, identify unbilled client costs, and flag billing discrepancies (e.g., clients being served without signed agreements or deposits on file). Subscription and credit card management: Maintain the master list of software subscriptions across all departments — tracking which tool is on which card and who owns it. Catch orphaned subscriptions, duplicate tools, and charges on the wrong card. Coordinate card migrations when team members depart or change roles. Headcount and software request triage: Monitor the automated approval workflow in Slack for new headcount and software purchase requests. Ensure business cases are complete and route to Finance and the CEO for approval. Work with people & talent lead to determine salary range for roles. Finance meeting support: Help prepare for and support periodic finance review meetings. Track action items, follow up on open billing issues, and ensure recurring reviews happen on schedule. End-of-quarter and year-end support: Assist Finance with quarterly close activities and budget reconciliation. Support year-end planning by gathering data, tracking deadlines, and coordinating across departments. Company Operations Executive meeting support: Prepare agendas, track action items, and maintain documentation for the weekly executive meeting. Ensure follow-through on decisions made in leadership meetings. Operating system support: Help maintain and reinforce the company’s EOS implementation — ensure scorecard data is updated, rocks are tracked, and meeting cadences are followed across departments. Contract management support: Support Client Success and Sales with active contract management — tracking signature status on addendums, SOWs, and new agreements. Flag renewals and ensure in-progress contracts don’t stall. End-of-year performance planning: Work with the CEO and executive team to determine what end-of-year performance evaluation looks like and support the planning process. Cross-department coordination: Serve as the operational connective tissue between Finance, People Ops, Client Success, and department leads. Triage incoming operational requests and route them to the right owner. Performance review execution: Partner with the People & Talent Lead to execute the end-of-year performance review cycle — coordinating timelines, compiling self-assessments and manager feedback, and ensuring reviews are completed on schedule across all departments. Phase 2: Ongoing Responsibilities After the leave period, this role settles into its permanent scope. You’ll continue to own and build on the areas below as the company scales. People Operations Headcount approval coordination: Guide new headcount requests from reviewing the business case through budget approval to confirming the job description with People Operations/Recruiting. Ensure requests are complete and well-documented before routing to Finance and the CEO for final sign-off. Offboarding support: Assist with managing offboarding checklists in ClickUp as needed — coordinating system access removal, Gusto deactivation, and final day logistics. Payroll support: Work with Finance to add new hires to payroll, ensuring accurate start dates, compensation, and classification. Not all team members are on Gusto — coordinate across platforms for global employees. SOP and policy development: Assist People Operations with the creation of new standard operating procedures and company policies as needs arise. Training material review: Review and offer insight on training slide decks and materials created by People Operations, ensuring accuracy and alignment with company standards. Hiring coordination: Work with the People Operations/Talent Lead to keep the hiring pipeline moving — ensure job descriptions are finalized, interviews are scheduled, and offers are issued promptly once approved. Onboarding support: Support People Operations with new hire onboarding logistics including system access setup, Slack workspace invitations, and first-day materials. Performance review preparation: Own the operational preparation for performance review cycles, including compiling self-assessments, coordinating manager reviews, and organizing materials for calibration. Performance reviews launch Q1. Operations & Cross-Functional Support Time tracking oversight: Own time tracking data cleanup and submission — ensure hours are accurately logged, categorized, and submitted on schedule across teams. ClickUp and project management: Provide continuous oversight and support for ClickUp across the organization — maintaining workspace hygiene, supporting teams with task management, and ensuring processes are followed. AI usage and cost oversight: Monitor AI tool usage and associated costs across the company. Flag spend trends, support adoption, and ensure tools are being used efficiently. All Hands on Deck (AHOD) preparation: Own the AHOD deck coordination — ensure the deck is sent to the executive team a minimum of two weeks in advance for their slides. Own putting in and presenting Ops updates. Contract management support: Support Client Success and Sales with contract management — addendums, SOWs, renewals, and new agreements. Track status and flag anything stalled. Process documentation: Document recurring processes, workflows, and escalation paths. Reduce tribal knowledge by building systems and SOPs that outlast any single person. Cross-department coordination: Serve as the operational connective tissue between Finance, People Ops, Client Success, and department leads. Triage incoming requests and route them to the right owner. Ad hoc operational projects: Take on special projects as assigned by the Director of Ops — everything from vendor research to data cleanup to rolling out new tools or policies. AI Usage and Tooling Optimization: Identify where AI can expand your capabilities and implement accordingly. Tooling: Build and utilize agents, skills, and other AI tools. Research and Project Assistance: Use constructive, robust prompts to generate top results and share best practices with the team. Who You Are Operationally sharp: You catch things that other people miss. A contractor invoice that wasn’t in the forecast, a subscription on the wrong card, a hiring request that’s missing a business case — you notice and you flag it. Systems-minded: You think in workflows, not one-off tasks. When you solve a problem, you build a process so it doesn’t happen again. Comfortable across domains: You’re not intimidated by switching between a payroll question, a billing discrepancy, and a policy draft in the same morning. Versatility is the job. Proactive communicator: You surface issues early, ask the right questions, and keep stakeholders informed without being asked. You know when to handle something yourself and when to escalate. Detail-oriented with good judgment: You get the details right on compliance checks, invoice reviews, and employee records — but you also know when to zoom out and flag a bigger pattern. Comfortable with ambiguity: You don’t need a perfectly scoped task list to be productive. You can take a broad mandate and figure out what needs to happen next. Qualifications 4+ years of experience in business operations, office management, people operations, or a similar generalist role Experience working with payroll platforms (Gusto preferred), project management tools (ClickUp preferred), and financial tracking systems Strong spreadsheet skills and comfort working with financial data (cost trackers, forecasts, invoice reconciliation) Excellent written communication — you’ll be drafting SOPs, policies, and cross-functional updates regularly Experience in a remote-first environment with distributed teams Preferred Experience at a marketing agency, professional services firm, or fast-growing startup Familiarity with EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System), or similar systems Experience with Brex, PandaDoc, Slack workflows, or similar operational tooling Exposure to contractor management or multi-state employment compliance Compensation Salary: $50k-$90k USD/annually (based on location and skill set) PTO: Up to 18 days when 1099 and Flexible PTO when W2 (US-based and long-term) Benefits (US W2 only): Medical, Dental, and Vision reimbursement up to $500, 401k, and Aflac (Life Insurance, Short Term Disability, Mental Health, etc.)
