Business Process Consultant *Higher ED - Medical* (HIRING ASAP)

We are seeking an experienced Business Process Engineer / Operations Process Consultant to assess, document, and optimize operational workflows across the Medical school. This engagement is focused on understanding how the organization functions today, identifying process gaps and inefficiencies, and establishing future-state processes that improve consistency, effectiveness, and user adoption. The consultant will partner with business stakeholders and functional teams to evaluate current operating procedures, facilitate process discovery sessions, document end-to-end workflows, and develop best-practice process frameworks that maximize the value of existing systems and resources. Key Responsibilities Conduct process discovery workshops and stakeholder interviews across functional areas within the School of Nursing. Assess current-state business processes, operating procedures, and workflow effectiveness. Evaluate how staff currently utilize systems, tools, and processes to support daily operations. Document current-state and future-state workflows using process maps, swimlane diagrams, and supporting documentation. Identify process gaps, bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for operational improvement. Define process ownership, decision points, handoffs, inputs, outputs, and system interactions. Review existing job aids, procedures, and documentation and convert them into standardized process flows. Develop a comprehensive operational "playbook" outlining recommended processes, responsibilities, timelines, and best practices. Present findings, process maturity assessments, and improvement recommendations to School Leadership. Establish standards, templates, and documentation governance for future process mapping initiatives. Coach and mentor staff on process mapping methodologies, process analysis techniques, and workflow documentation best practices. Facilitate knowledge transfer to ensure internal teams can independently maintain and improve processes following the engagement. Desired Deliverables At the conclusion of the engagement, the consultant will have: Completed current-state and future-state documentation for prioritized operational processes. Delivered professional Level 0, Level 1, and Level 2 process maps with clearly identified risks, bottlenecks, ownership, and improvement opportunities. Developed a detailed operational playbook outlining recommended workflows, responsibilities, and process standards. Provided an assessment of organizational process maturity and staff readiness. Presented actionable recommendations to School Leadership for improving operational efficiency and effectiveness. Established process mapping standards, templates, and documentation best practices. Increased the organization's ability to independently facilitate, document, and improve future business processes. Ideal Background 5+ years of Business Process Engineering, Business Process Improvement, Operational Excellence, or Process Mapping experience. Proven experience facilitating workshops and documenting complex operational workflows. Strong expertise with BPMN, workflow mapping, swimlane diagrams, and process documentation. Experience assessing organizational processes and developing future-state operating models. Ability to quickly understand cross-functional business operations and translate findings into actionable process improvements. Strong communication, facilitation, stakeholder management, and presentation skills. Experience coaching, mentoring, or training teams on process improvement methodologies. Lean, Six Sigma, Business Process Management (BPM), or related certifications are preferred. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $80.00 - $80.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
