Overview

Business Process Improvement Analyst is at the heart of cross-functional collaboration and partnership within Operations at Yale University. Reporting to the Director of Process Improvement, within the Office of Strategic Initiatives, this role will be instrumental in building Yale’s process improvement capabilities and methodologies while supporting Yale’s Operations strategic plan and system-wide initiatives.


This role analyzes business processes, identifies improvement opportunities, implements sustainable solutions, and drives operational excellence through data-informed decision-making. The position collaborates with faculty, staff, and leadership to improve service delivery, enhance the student and employee experience, increase organizational efficiency, and support institutional strategic goals.


The role leverages process improvement methodologies, business analytics, automation technologies, and artificial intelligence (AI) tools to optimize workflows, reduce waste, improve compliance, and advance artificial intelligence approaches.


This role will be responsible for implementing and coaching leaders and staff through lean process improvement methodologies to address and solve complex problems and achieve the desired future state. They will assist in maturing Yale’s process improvement model and be proactive leaders partnering with project and change managers throughout the project delivery lifecycle.


Successful candidates in this role will have excellent interpersonal, technical, social and influencing skills. The Business Process Improvement Analyst will lead with curiosity, have an open mind, be a team player, and have exceptional communication skills. They will be responsible for:


  • Promoting and role models Yale’s values and leadership behaviors.
  • Engaging and supports strategic system-wide initiatives.
  • Prompt decision-making and issue resolution.
  • Leading and facilitating root cause problem-solving sessions, rapid improvement workshops, and value stream and detailed process mapping sessions.
  • Utilize AI tools for process analysis, knowledge management, workflow optimization, and decision support.
  • Develop and iterate standard work for current and future processes.
  • Deliver just-in-time training to staff and project teams on process improvement methodology and tools.
  • Partner with and guide external consultants and subject matter experts.
  • Work closely with the Office of Strategic Initiatives' project management and change management teams to achieve desired future state goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for documenting, updating, and presenting improvement tools and artifacts as well as status reports.
  • Establish performance metrics to ensure sustainability.
  • Support all management levels with process adherence, data analysis, and improvement recommendations.

Principal Responsibilities

1. Performs complex data/information gathering techniques; evaluates the quality of the information by considering the source, relevancies, and timeliness.
2. Collaborates with team members and clients to drive development of project deliverables and strategies.
3. Researches, aggregates, and analyzes a variety of data/information; synthesizes large and complex quantities information; extracts meaningful insights and makes recommendations.
4. Develops and presents comprehensive and complex reports, recommendations, trainings, and presentations to a variety of audiences.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree and seven years of experience or equivalent education and experience.

Skills and Abilities

Proven experience in complex project management.

Developed analytical, creative thinking and problem-solving skills.

Developed interpersonal, written, communication, presentation, and organizational skills.

Proven ability to develop detailed proposals, presentations, and plans.
