Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Business Sales Rep Underwriting professional. The role involves identifying and developing new business opportunities with funeral parlours, employer groups, trade unions, burial societies, and faith communities, as well as managing and growing existing relationships. The Business Sales Rep will work with Fodelum operations and sales teams to prepare quotations, structure insurance solutions, and ensure proposals comply with internal guidelines and regulatory requirements. Daily tasks include conducting virtual client meetings, presenting product offerings, gathering and analyzing client information, preparing sales and underwriting documentation, and following up to close deals. The role also includes maintaining accurate records in CRM systems, monitoring portfolio performance, and providing feedback to improve products and processes.

Qualifications

• Strong business development and sales skills, including prospecting, relationship management, and negotiation.
• Experience in underwriting or risk assessment in insurance or financial services, with the ability to interpret policy terms and conditions.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex insurance concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.
• Comfort with remote work tools, CRM systems, and basic data analysis for tracking pipeline, performance, and client information.
• Knowledge of life and funeral insurance products, and familiarity with the South African insurance market and regulatory environment is an advantage.
• Proven ability to work independently, meet targets, and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
• Relevant qualification in insurance, finance, business, or a related field preferred; professional insurance certifications are beneficial.
• Prior experience working with funeral parlours, employer groups, unions, burial societies, or faith-based organizations is a plus.
