Business Systems Analyst – Laboratory Systems
Location: Norfolk, VA (Remote with occasional onsite meetings at Sentara Fort Norfo
Sentara Health is seeking a Business Systems Analyst to support applications and technologies utilized by our laboratory customer base. This role serves as a liaison between business stakeholders, laboratory operations, vendors, and technical teams to help implement, support, and enhance technology solutions that improve efficiency and service delivery.
The ideal candidate will have experience in Healthcare IT, strong project management and communication skills, and the ability to support business applications from implementation through ongoing production support. Experience working with laboratory operations, healthcare systems, and HL7 interfaces is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
Support and maintain applications and technologies serving the laboratory customer base.
Coordinate and manage project activities, timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder communications.
Gather, analyze, and document business requirements and system enhancements.
Provide application, product, and customer support to end users.
Track project milestones and maintain status reports and spreadsheets for leadership and stakeholders.
Troubleshoot system issues, coordinate resolution efforts, and communicate updates effectively.
Support healthcare application implementations, upgrades, and optimization efforts.
Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and business partners to ensure successful project outcomes.
Assist with interface monitoring and support, including HL7 messaging and healthcare data exchanges.
Education
- High School diploma (Required)
Certification/Licensure
- No specific certification or licensure requirements
Experience
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant Business Systems Analyst, Healthcare IT, or Applications Analyst experience.
- Experience gathering requirements, documenting workflows, and supporting system implementations.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting healthcare technology applications and business systems.
- Experience working within a laboratory environment or supporting laboratory operations strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of HL7 messaging, healthcare interfaces, and data exchange processes.
- Experience with healthcare EMR/EHR platforms such as Epic, Medica, Optum, or similar systems is a plus.
- Familiarity with healthcare workflows, application implementation, customer support, and process improvement initiatives.
- Experience managing projects, maintaining status reports, and communicating updates across stakeholder group
