Business Systems Analyst

JetBlue is looking for a BA on a 6 month contract with potential for hire. The position will be remote, but the client is ONLY accepting candidates that reside in the local NYC metro area since the business teams sit in Long Island City office, and if necessary, the candidate would be able to meet with the business onsite 2-5x per month when needed.

The Business Analyst, Technology Programs provides direct support to JetBlue IT initiatives by supporting the Project Manager(s), Project Team, and IT Leadership in the development of materials in support of the discovery/initiation, planning, and execution of IT projects. The Business Analyst independently supports assigned projects and non-project tasks from start to finish, with a particular emphasis on requirements discovery, analysis, stakeholder facilitation, and ensuring business needs are clearly understood before solution development begins. The Business Analyst may occasionally serve as the project lead on smaller and/or well-defined projects or provide support to IT Managers in project initiation activities.

Essential Responsibilities

• Actively support an assigned portfolio of projects from start to finish in accordance with JetBlue IT policies and processes; produce clear, detailed project scoping and design documentation to be used by technical specialists to build appropriate solutions

• Independently lead requirements discovery and facilitation sessions to elicit, analyze, and document clear, traceable business and functional requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, task and/or workflow analysis, and other appropriate techniques

• Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple stakeholders, challenge assumptions, ask probing questions to understand the underlying business need, reconcile conflicting requirements, and translate high-level ideas into well-defined requirements before solution development begins

• Drive and challenge business units on their assumptions, clarify desired business outcomes, and ensure requirements are based on clearly understood business needs

• Collaborate with developers, data engineers, architects, subject matter experts, and other IT crewmembers to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs

• Ensure that approved requirements are developed in sufficient scope and detail to result in the delivery of a solution that meets customer needs as they perceive them

• Proactively communicate and collaborate with internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver clear, complete requirements documentation

• Support testing and validation activities by ensuring alignment with business requirements, assisting with test cases, reviewing QA/UAT results, and supporting defect triage and prioritization.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

• Experience supporting data, analytics, dashboard, or reporting initiatives

• Working knowledge of industry standards in business analysis, project management, and development methodologies (PMBOK, Agile Methods, etc.)

• Working knowledge of risk management and quality assurance standards and methodologies

• Demonstrated analytical skills and a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate them into clear application and operational requirements

• Strong interpersonal and demonstrated facilitation skills, including the ability to independently lead stakeholder discussions, motivate and influence others, and foster a positive, collaborative team environment

• Strong customer service ethic and an understanding of how IT is delivered to the Customer

• High tolerance for working in a dynamic and shifting environment and able to readily embrace and participate in change initiatives

• Knowledge of technology fundamentals and concepts; ability to work well with others and complete tasks with minimal supervision

• Effective time management and prioritization skills

• Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) or other relevant Business Analysis certification

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/General Education Development (GED) Diploma and (4) four years of related work experience supporting projects with business user and IT components

• Four (4) years of experience performing Business Analyst responsibilities supporting technology initiatives with business and IT stakeholders

• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Visio

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders at all levels of the organization

• Ability to review, consolidate, communicate and reverse-engineer complex technical and systems documentation

• Working understanding of data tables, data relationships, dashboards, and reporting concepts; experience defining dashboard and reporting requirements. SQL development experience is not required

• Experience working with SAP or similar enterprise systems

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $50.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
