At Ferrilli, we specialize in providing strategic IT and cybersecurity services to colleges and universities across the country. With a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by higher education institutions, we help our clients secure their environments, meet compliance mandates, and build resilient cybersecurity programs that support teaching, learning, and research.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Business Systems Analyst develops the technical specifications from that solution, and the institution's development resources then build the solution or configure Ellucian products such as Insights reports and Intelligent Processes. The role therefore sits at the seam between the business and the platform and is accountable for turning stakeholder conversation into something a developer can execute against.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Elicit, document, and refine business and functional requirements with functional stakeholders, and validate requirements already captured by the institution.
  • Manage the requirements inventory and maintain traceability from the originating business need through solution direction, technical specification, and acceptance criteria.
  • Map current state and future state business processes, including actors, handoffs, decision points, and system touchpoints.
  • Extract business rules held in sources such as SQL objects and Excel workbooks and convert them into a structured business rules matrix or Decision Model and Notation decision model.
  • Expand approved business and functional requirements into technical, data, security, and other non-functional specifications for the institution's development and configuration resources.
  • Define configuration requirements where a need will be met through Ellucian delivered capability rather than development, including Insights reports and Intelligent Processes.
  • Plan and facilitate requirements workshops and review sessions, guiding stakeholders to a documented decision within the session and recording decisions, owners, and open items.
  • Distinguish functional, technical, data, and security requirements during discussion and route each to the correct owner, so that stakeholders do not need to be repeatedly re engaged.
  • Conduct walkthrough sessions of completed specifications with developers and provide clarification support during build.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ellucian Banner familiarity sufficient to become productive quickly, including an understanding of Banner module behavior and the data behind it.
  • Demonstrated experience combining business analysis and business systems analysis on an enterprise ERP program, ideally an on premise to SaaS transition.
  • Proven requirements management and traceability practice, and the ability to write specifications that state what must be done, how it will be done in the system, and the expected outcome.
  • Strong workshop facilitation and stakeholder influence. Technical capability alone is not sufficient for this role.
  • Effective in a remote first environment, working through video conferencing and virtual whiteboarding tools.
