Location: Edenbridge, Kent – 1-2 days WFH

Employment: Permanent, Full-time

I'm recruiting for a Buyer to join an established manufacturing business in Edenbridge.

This is a hands-on purchasing position covering the full day-to-day buying cycle, including purchase orders, supplier management, expediting, inventory management, negotiation and sourcing.

You'll work closely with suppliers and internal production, engineering and operational teams to make sure materials and products are available when required while keeping costs and stock levels under control.

What you'll be doing

• Placing and managing purchase orders
• Expediting orders and ensuring suppliers meet agreed delivery dates
• Resolving shortages, late deliveries, quality issues and invoice queries
• Managing supplier relationships and monitoring supplier performance
• Negotiating pricing, lead times and service levels
• Monitoring inventory and maintaining appropriate stock levels
• Identifying cost-saving opportunities
• Supporting the sourcing and development of new suppliers
• Maintaining supplier and purchasing information within ERP/MRP systems
• Producing purchasing and supplier reports using Excel
• Working closely with other departments to resolve supply issues and maintain product availability

What we're looking for

• Around 3+ years' experience within purchasing, buying, procurement or a closely related supply-chain position
• Experience purchasing physical products, materials or components
• Experience working with ERP/MRP systems
• Good understanding of purchase orders, suppliers, lead times and inventory
• Comfortable negotiating with suppliers
• Good Excel skills
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Able to manage multiple suppliers, orders and priorities at the same time

Previous experience within manufacturing would be beneficial, but we're open to candidates from different industries where the purchasing experience is transferable.

This could suit someone currently working as a Buyer, Purchasing Officer, Purchasing Coordinator, Materials Buyer, Procurement Specialist or an experienced Supply Chain Coordinator looking to move further into purchasing.
