CA Datacom/DB DBA – Mainframe | Remote

Our client is seeking an experienced CA Datacom/DB Database Administrator (DBA) to support a complex enterprise mainframe environment.

This is a highly specialised opportunity suited to a CA Datacom/DB subject matter expert who can provide technical guidance, troubleshooting and contingency support across a business-critical legacy environment.

The requirement is primarily focused on risk mitigation and specialist capability, providing additional Datacom expertise that can be called upon when required.

The engagement is expected to run from November 2026 through to July 2027, with the opportunity to work remotely from Australia or New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialist CA Datacom/DB database administration and support
• Support and maintain Datacom databases operating on IBM z/OS mainframes
• Provide expertise across Datacom architecture, internals and database structures
• Assist with mainframe database migration activities
• Troubleshoot complex database, application and performance issues
• Provide performance analysis, tuning and optimisation
• Support interactions between PL/I applications and Datacom/DB
• Provide technical guidance and recommendations when critical issues arise
• Assist with the ongoing stability and resilience of a large-scale legacy environment
• Step in quickly when specialist Datacom expertise is required

Skills & Experience

To be considered, you will ideally have strong commercial experience with:

• CA Datacom/DB administration – essential
• CA Datacom/DB architecture and internals
• IBM z/OS mainframe environments
• Mainframe database migrations
• Datacom database troubleshooting and performance tuning
• PL/I and its interaction with Datacom/DB
• Supporting complex, business-critical legacy environments
• Large enterprise or banking/financial services environments

About You

You will be a highly experienced mainframe database specialist who is comfortable operating as a trusted technical expert and contingency resource, rather than solely in a traditional day-to-day DBA capacity.

You will be able to quickly understand complex legacy environments, troubleshoot critical issues and provide clear technical guidance when required.
