Position Summary The Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC)/Assessor is responsible for conducting comprehensive substance use assessments, developing clinical recommendations, and supporting individuals in accessing the appropriate level of care. This position plays a critical role in ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant assessments while collaborating with multidisciplinary team members to facilitate high-quality client care. Required Licensure/Certifications Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC) credential in DC Candidates must maintain all required licenses, certifications, registrations, and continuing education requirements in good standing throughout the duration of their engagement. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field Minimum of one-year of experience working with individuals with substance use disorders Experience completing ASAM assessments and treatment recommendations Knowledge of Virginia Medicaid documentation and compliance requirements Experience using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems including Credible Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills Primary Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial and substance use assessments. Complete ASAM assessments and determine the appropriate level of care. Develop individualized treatment recommendations and coordinate referrals. Complete clinical documentation accurately and within established timelines. Maintain compliance with DBHDS, Medicaid, agency, and payer requirements. Collaborate with clinical supervisors, therapists, recovery support staff, and external referral partners. Participate in required supervision, team meetings, and quality improvement activities. Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and all applicable ethical standards. Support agency performance goals related to access, quality, and client engagement. Work Setting This is a hybrid contractor position. Contractors are expected to work remotely as appropriate while maintaining an in-office presence a minimum of two (2) days per week to support client assessments, team collaboration, and operational needs. Contractors are expected to maintain reliable availability and consistently meet documentation and productivity expectations.
