Collections Specialist – Auto Finance
California | Full-Time | Remote
Pay Range: $21.00–$25.00 per hour, plus incentive opportunity

SAFCO is seeking a motivated, customer-focused professional to join our team as a remote Collections Specialist serving customers in California.
You will work directly with customers who have fallen behind on their automobile loan payments. By listening to their circumstances, explaining available options, and negotiating workable solutions, you will help customers move forward while protecting the interests of the Company.
Previous collections, call-center, customer service, sales, banking, or financial-services experience is helpful. SAFCO is also prepared to train candidates who demonstrate strong communication skills, sound judgment, resilience, and a desire to succeed.
Bilingual ability in English/Spanish is helpful but not required. You must be located in the state o California to be considered for this position.
Schedule
This position requires flexibility to work the following Pacific Time schedules:
  • 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. on regular daytime shifts
  • 12:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. at least two weekdays each week
  • Every third Saturday, with another day off during the applicable workweek
Schedules include an unpaid meal period and paid rest periods in accordance with California law. The specific schedule may vary based on business needs and will be provided in advance.
What You’ll Do
  • Communicate with customers regarding past-due automobile loan payments through outbound dialer campaigns, manual calls, and incoming calls.
  • Listen carefully to understand the circumstances contributing to a customer’s delinquency.
  • Negotiate practical payment arrangements while maintaining professional customer relationships.
  • Explain payment obligations, available options, and the importance of rebuilding credit clearly and respectfully.
  • Accurately document customer conversations, payment arrangements, and account activity.
  • Perform basic skip tracing and obtain updated customer contact information.
  • Manage assigned accounts and follow-up commitments consistently.
  • Protect confidential customer and account information.
  • Follow applicable federal and California collection laws, Company policies, and quality standards.
  • Participate in virtual training, coaching, meetings, and professional-development activities.

Remote-Work Requirements
  • You must reside and perform your work in California.
  • You must maintain a private, professional workspace suitable for confidential customer conversations.
  • Reliable high-speed internet and consistent availability throughout your scheduled shift are required.
  • SAFCO will provide approved equipment and reimburse necessary business expenses in accordance with Company policy and applicable California law.
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly pay range for this position is $21.00–$25.00. Starting pay will be based on relevant experience, skills, qualifications, and other lawful considerations. The position may also be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation under SAFCO’s applicable incentive plan.
