The WHS Lead is responsible for leading workplace health and safety improvement initiatives across the Campbellfield plant operations. The role works closely with operational leaders and Health & Safety Representatives (HSRs) to identify and reduce workplace risks, improve safety performance, and foster a culture where safety is integrated into everyday operational decision-making. Reporting to the Plant Manager, with a matrix reporting relationship to the APAC EHS Manager, the WHS Lead champions corporate EHS programs and local safety improvement initiatives, ensuring they are effectively implemented and sustained within the operation. Through coaching, risk reduction activities, incident prevention, employee engagement, and continuous improvement, the role supports the development of a safe, compliant, and high-performing workplace. Main Responsibilities • Provide visible safety leadership across the Campbellfield operation, promoting a culture of accountability, risk awareness, and continuous improvement. • Partner with operational leaders, supervisors, and Health & Safety Representatives (HSRs) to strengthen safety engagement and employee participation. • Coach and support leaders in the effective management of workplace health and safety risks and safe work practices including supporting leaders in identifying and managing psychosocial hazards and promoting psychological health within the workplace. • Promote behavioural safety initiatives and proactive hazard identification activities throughout the operation. • Identify, prioritise, and lead safety improvement initiatives that reduce workplace risk and strengthen operational safety performance. • Facilitate workplace inspections, safety observations, risk assessments, and hazard reviews to identify improvement opportunities and effectively manage WHS risks. • Lead investigations into workplace incidents, injuries, near misses, and hazardous events using structured root cause methodologies namely RCCM tools. • Develop and monitor corrective action plans to ensure issues are addressed effectively and recurrence is prevented. • Support operational teams in the development and review of safe operating procedures, risk assessments, and safety documentation. • Support site activities relating to dangerous goods, hazardous substances, environmental, and lithium storage compliance requirements. • Support the implementation of regional and global EHS projects, campaigns, audits, and improvement initiatives. • Champion continuous improvement through EOS principles, structured problem solving, employee engagement, and the implementation of sustainable safety improvements. • Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives that improve safety performance, operational discipline, and risk management effectiveness. • Develop and maintain visual performance measures that provide clear visibility of safety priorities, actions, and outcomes. • Other duties within your capacity as required by the business Ideal Candidate Minimum Requirement: • Certificate IV or higher equivalent in Workplace Health & Safety • Demonstrated experience in a WHS, EHS or similar leadership role within manufacturing, industrial or operational environments. • Strong knowledge of Australia WHS legislation, risk management and incident investigation process • Experience conducting risk assessments, workplace inspections and implementing corrective actions • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety reporting systems • Ability to work as part of a team, with or without constant supervision Preferred: • Diploma of Work Health Safety or higher qualification in WHS, Safety Management, Occupational Health and Safety • Demonstrated experience supporting WHS outcomes in complex manufacturing environments. • Experience supporting continuous improvement, Lean, or operational excellence programs • Experience working in high-risk manufacturing environments. • SAI 360 or similar interface experience The successful applicant will be ambitious and will have the autonomy and competency to succeed in this role.
