Business Unit / Role Specific Info Global Merchant & Network Services brings together American Express' merchant and network-related businesses. This includes the management of our relationships across the globe with both the millions of merchants who accept American Express, as well as our partners in countries and territories that deliver card acceptance, issuance and innovation. The American Express business has two core types of customers. The Card Members that use our cards to make purchases, and the businesses that accept them. In Global Merchant & Network Services, we primarily focus on the businesses that accept our cards. We bring together the businesses that manage and evolve the company’s relationships with the millions of merchants around the world that accept American Express, as well as the team that runs the company’s payment network and manages bank partnerships globally. This is an exciting time for GMNS. We are expanding global acceptance of our cards, driving greater usage of our network, leveraging our modern capabilities to capture broader revenue streams, and driving innovation both in-house and with partners. To put the scale of our global reach in numbers: More than 80 million global locations accept American Express payment products We operate in 198 countries and territories We have 140+ million cards in force, that perform 12 billion transactions per year and contribute more than $1.5 trillion in network volume We have 190+ partners who either issue cards on our network, and/or sign new businesses to accept Amex on our behalf The Global Merchant & Network Pricing (GMNP) team is responsible for the single largest source of revenue for American Express: merchant discount revenue. The team works closely with multiple business partners to determine pricing structures that encourage merchant acceptance of American Express, while striving to improve coverage and merchant satisfaction. Ultimately, the team drives merchant revenue and profit growth through customer-centric pricing principles, flexible pricing architecture, and innovative pricing solutions. How will you make an impact in this role? Develop actionable insights and provide analytical support for strategic merchant pricing initiatives. Work alongside senior leaders in the Pricing and Client Management organizations in a fast-paced environment to support high-profile projects that have significant impact on American Express. Develop pricing approaches or constructs based on quantitative data analysis and provide recommendations on key financial / commercial terms. Leverage internal and external data, competitive intelligence, and industry research to inform pricing strategies and maintain pricing integrity. Evaluate business cases for various merchant pricing scenarios, model P&L impacts, and perform sensitivity analyses to drive agile business decisions. Build relationships with partners in the Client Management organization that drive team accountability and achieve stated goals. Minimum Qualifications Currently enrolled in a full-time Master’s degree program (MBA preferred). Critical thinking: Ability to work through unstructured problems and develop clear, data-driven insights. Relationship management and collaboration skills: Ability to influence others in situations where there may be different goals. Intellectual curiosity: High-intellectual curiosity, creative thinker who is willing to question traditional ways of doing things and develop new approaches to old challenges. Effective communicator and influencer: Excellent written and oral communication skills, with strong executive presence with the ability to appropriately structure information to drive decision-making. Entrepreneurial spirit: Proactive self-starter who excels in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that places a premium on driving results. Problem solving: Strong analytical and financial acumen, including familiarity with financial modeling and sensitivity analysis in Excel. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree candidates with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028. 2 years’ minimum of professional experience in strategy, consulting, finance, analytics or related.
