Job Title: CapEx Buyer
Job Description
We are seeking a CapEx Buyer to support procurement activities related to capital investment projects across manufacturing, processing, logistics, and infrastructure operations. This individual will partner closely with Engineering, Operations, Project Management, and Strategic Sourcing teams to procure equipment, construction services, materials, and other capital project requirements while ensuring cost competitiveness, supplier performance, and project schedule adherence. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting capital projects, construction procurement, industrial equipment sourcing, or strategic purchasing within a manufacturing, food production, agribusiness, chemical, or industrial environment.
Responsibilities
- Execute procurement activities for capital projects, including equipment, machinery, engineering services, construction services, maintenance projects, and site improvements.
- Manage RFQ/RFP processes, obtain competitive bids, evaluate supplier proposals, and make sourcing recommendations.
- Partner with project stakeholders to understand project scope, timelines, technical requirements, and procurement needs.
- Create and manage purchase orders while ensuring compliance with company procurement policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with suppliers to track manufacturing schedules, shipment timelines, and delivery commitments.
- Support contract negotiations related to pricing, payment terms, lead times, warranties, and supplier service agreements.
- Monitor supplier performance and proactively mitigate risks that could impact project budgets or schedules.
- Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing and Category Management teams to leverage preferred suppliers and negotiated agreements.
- Maintain accurate procurement documentation and reporting within ERP and procurement systems.
- Assist in identifying cost savings, cost avoidance opportunities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support supplier qualification, onboarding, and risk management activities.
- Provide regular updates to project teams regarding procurement status, delivery milestones, and potential supply chain challenges.
Essential Skills
- 5 years of procurement experience towards capital projects (CapEx).
- Proficiency in SAP.
- Intermediate Excel skills, including the ability to create Pivot Tables and charts.
- Contract management with an understanding of legal terminology.
- Problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Supplier management, including evaluating and negotiating.
Work Environment
The position requires working Monday through Friday, primarily in the office during the first few months of training. After the training period, there is the flexibility to work one day from home. The role adheres to standard business hours.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chesterfield, MO.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
