Student Wellness Hub

The Student Wellness Hub provides a range of health services to McGill students with a focus on awareness, prevention, and early intervention. The Student Wellness Hub has a variety of clinicians that provide one-on-one appointments, therapy groups and other services. Within the Student Wellness Hub, the Healthy Living Annex focuses on health promotion and offers peer support programs for both the Macdonald and downtown campuses.

Position Summary:
The Case Manager works at the Wellness Hub as part of an interprofessional team supporting student health and wellbeing.

They work from a client-centered approach, integrating culturally relevant practices and perspectives to support the mental health and well-being of students. Working from a stepped care model they connect students to campus and community services that support their mental health needs.

As a Case Manager, their role is to provide students with mental health support and assist with clinical navigation, such as connecting students with complex needs to appropriate levels of support within the Hub, McGill, and the community. Additionally, they collaborate, support, and liaise with professionals at the Hub and members of the community to help ensure that students with complex mental health needs are connected to necessary services.


Primary Responsibilities:
The primary functions of this position are to provide mental health services directly to students, including those that present in crisis, and to support staff with complex cases. The candidate performs any/all of the following functions as needed:

  • Manage access to care and service navigation for students, clinicians, and staff by facilitating referrals to community-based mental health, medical, and social service providers.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with community treatment providers, hospitals, intensive outpatient programs, and campus stakeholders to support timely access to appropriate levels of care.
  • Manage urgent, high-risk, and complex cases, serving as the primary contact for safety appointments, crisis consultations, hospitalizations, and transitions between levels of care.
  • Track and monitor priority referrals, hospitalizations, and students of concern, ensuring continuity of care through follow-up, case coordination, and discharge planning.
  • Provide consultation and resource expertise to clinicians, including referral recommendations, care coordination strategies, and assistance navigating community treatment systems.
  • Facilitate communication and information sharing among students, treatment providers, families, faculty, Dean’s Offices, and other stakeholders, including obtaining releases and coordinating treatment records.
  • Maintain and enhance referral resources and systems, including provider databases, referral networks, wait-time information, service availability, insurance coverage, and intake requirements.
  • Deliver training, support strategic initiatives, and collaborate on special projects related to urgent care procedures, hospitalization processes, student support, and campus-wide mental health partnerships.


Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

  • Must be a Master’s-level licensed Mental Health professional within the province of Quebec.
  • Demonstrated ability to make clinical decisions independently.
  • Demonstrated competence working with young adults and able to support students from diverse communities drawing upon personal lived experience.
  • Professionalism, good organizational and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Must be able to contribute actively to a team.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a Microsoft environment using Word, PowerPoint, internet search engines and email.
  • English, spoken and written. French, spoken and read.

Knowledge of English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # 4 (fluent) on a scale of 0-4.
