Casual Disability Support Worker

Utopia Care provides core supports including daily personal activities, assistance with daily tasks in group or shared living arrangements, and participation in community, social, and civic activities. The service also offers group and center-based activities, vacation care for children and young people aged 7 to 18, and day center options for adults 18 and over, supported by a 12-seater commuter bus for transport and community access.

Role Description The Casual Disability Support Worker will provide person-centered support to individuals with disability, helping them to achieve their goals and maintain their preferred lifestyle. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with daily personal activities, supporting tasks in shared living or group environments, and facilitating participation in community, social, and recreational activities. The role involves working in group and center-based programs, supporting vacation care and day options, promoting independence, safeguarding wellbeing, and documenting support provided in line with organizational policies. This is a casual contract role based in Glenelg North, SA, with a hybrid work arrangement that includes both on-site support and some work from home for planning, documentation, and communication tasks.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Support Worker or in disability/community support roles, with a strong focus on person-centered care.
• Highly developed Interpersonal Skills, including empathy, patience, and the ability to build respectful, trusting relationships.
• Knowledge of Safeguarding practices, duty of care, and compliance with relevant disability and NDIS standards.
• Clear and professional Communication skills, including record-keeping, reporting, and working collaboratively with participants, families, and colleagues.
• Basic Technical Support and digital literacy skills to use electronic care records, scheduling systems, and communication tools.
• Relevant qualification or working toward a qualification in disability support, community services, social care, or a related field.
• Current Working With Children Check, National Police Check, and valid driver’s license (or ability to meet transport requirements).
• Availability to work flexible casual hours, including evenings or weekends as required, and commitment to inclusive, non-discriminatory practice.
