Job Description

Responsible for investigating and confirming the facts of loss for advanced homeowner property claims. Determines coverage, evaluates damages, and adjusts and negotiates claims within authority limits. Responsible for creating and/or auditing comprehensive estimates for first-party homeowner claims to support accurate claim resolution.

As a CAT Field Property Adjuster, you will inspect residential properties damaged by a variety of perils, including wind, hail, water, fire, lightning, and other catastrophic events. Responsibilities include investigating losses, evaluating policy coverage, documenting damages, preparing repair estimates, and working directly with customers through the claim resolution process.

When field inspections are not possible, you may utilize virtual inspection and collaboration technology to evaluate losses and assist customers remotely.

We are seeking an independent and customer-focused claims professional who can effectively manage claims from initial inspection through final resolution while delivering exceptional service during catastrophe events.

Work Schedule

• This position requires extended catastrophe deployments based on business needs and claim volume.

• NatGen CAT adjusters are typically deployed on approximately 30-day rotations, with flexibility based on storm severity and operational needs.

• Deployments may be extended beyond 31 days for large-scale catastrophe events, including hurricanes and other widespread losses.

• Adjusters are expected to remain at their assigned deployment location for the duration of the assignment, including overnight stays.

• Following four consecutive weeks of deployment, adjusters are generally provided a provisional four-day weekend (travel time not included) to allow for rest and time at home, based on operational needs.

• Between deployments, employees may complete virtual claim responsibilities, including supplements and reconciliations, from their home-based work location.

• Training Schedule: Approximately two weeks of training, followed by field training or ride-along support. Final dates and location will be communicated during the hiring process

• Location: Fully remote when not deployed.

Key Responsibilities

• Possesses a deep understanding of policy language and coverage application across homeowner products.

• Investigates, evaluates, and resolves complex homeowner property claims.

• Creates, reviews, and/or audits detailed repair estimates for residential property losses.

• Evaluates settlement alternatives while ensuring regulatory compliance and fair claims practices.

• Negotiates settlements, issues payments within authority guidelines, and documents claim activity accurately.

• Builds and maintains strong relationships with customers, contractors, agents, and internal business partners.

• Effectively manages claim inventory and prioritizes work during catastrophe response events.

• Utilizes inspection technology and emerging tools to support claim investigations and customer service.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Experience handling property insurance claims from inspection through final resolution.

• Knowledge of residential construction methods, repair practices, and property damage assessment.

• Experience interpreting insurance policies and applying coverage provisions to claim decisions.

• Familiarity with Xactimate, including estimate writing, sketching, and claim documentation.

• Experience preparing detailed repair estimates, including complex or large-loss property claims.

• Farm property claims experience, including agricultural structures or related rural property losses, is preferred.

• Ability to evaluate damages and develop estimates in excess of $150,000 when applicable.

• Experience managing complex claim files and navigating challenging claim scenarios.

• Strong negotiation, customer service, and conflict-resolution skills.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.

• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and changing catastrophe environment.

• Comfort using mobile technology, virtual inspection tools, and emerging claim technologies.

• Experience with drone technology or willingness to obtain drone certification and use drone-assisted inspections.

Qualifications:

• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel.

• Ability and willingness to travel extensively (up to 90%), including overnight travel and extended catastrophe deployments throughout the United States. Deployment lengths may vary based on business needs and storm severity.

• Availability to work weekends, holidays, extended hours, and varying schedules during catastrophe response events.

• Ability to safely carry and use a 50-pound ladder and access roofs with up to a 6/12 pitch on one- and two-story structures.

• Ability to safely inspect residential and commercial properties, including damaged structures.

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and catastrophe-affected environments.

As a condition of employment, your office or area may require you to obtain an adjuster and/or appraiser license, including completion of any applicable background checks. If required, licenses must be obtained within 60 days of hire. Licensing support and guidance will be provided throughout the process.

Minimum internet speed requirements are 50 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload. Wired internet connections are recommended for optimal performance and may be required for certain customer-facing responsibilities.

Compensation

Base compensation offered for this role is $65,600 - $120,000 and is based on experience and qualifications.
