Title: Category Manager – Corporate Services (Gap Inc.)
Type: Contract role
Term: 3–6 months with possibility for extension
Start: ASAP
Location: Onsite in San Francisco, CA or Columbus area (Groveport, OH), or Remote
Pay: Target $70/hr (market range guidance: $55–$70/hr)
Note: This is not IT category management.
Role summary:
Support business stakeholders in acquiring key products and services while driving cost savings and innovation within the Corporate Services tower of Indirect Procurement. Coordinate with senior leaders to plan and execute category strategies that deliver significant impact across Gap Inc. brands. Lead vendor relationship development and effective outcomes, with primary categories including Consulting, Legal Services, and Risk Management (insurance brokerage and claims services). Opportunity to assume additional category ownership aligned to Gap’s NextGen transformation initiatives.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead fast, fit-for-purpose RFx (RFP/RFQ) events and negotiations for consulting and risk-management suppliers.
- Draft and review SOWs, rate cards, and commercial terms; align closely with Legal and Finance on MSAs and contracting terms.
- Manage supplier onboarding and purchase flow using Gap tools (Intake, Coupa Sourcing, CLM) and adhere to purchase policy.
- Partner cross-functionally (Finance, Legal, and business stakeholders) to secure approvals and meet timelines.
- Track savings, key milestones, and maintain complete, audit-ready records.
- Monitor supplier delivery and performance (SLAs), escalating issues proactively.
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years of indirect procurement/category management experience.
- Strong RFx, negotiation, and SOW skills; comfortable working with MSAs and commercial terms.
- Ability to move quickly, manage multiple concurrent requests, and communicate clearly with senior stakeholders.
- Proficiency with procurement and contracting tools (Intake, Coupa/CLM) and with Excel and PowerPoint.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience across Professional Services categories: Consulting, Legal Services, and/or Risk Management suppliers.
- Experience consolidating consulting vendor panels/preferred suppliers and optimizing rate cards.
- Familiarity with supplier risk and insurance/indemnity basics (in partnership with Legal/Risk).
